"spring wrap?"
"spring wrap?"
Well I haven't done too many suspension swaps but this weekend I should be doing a major suspension overhaul, new springs, front Koni reds, ES FSB bushings, RSB, isolators, bearings, dust boots... the whole nine yards. However when I got my previous Progress springs (used) the bottom few coils were wrapped in what I think is spiral loom... the thought that went through my (and friend's) head there was that that was to keep it from being noisy when the bottom few coils compressed completely--to keep them from rubbing against each other. But now after going to the dealer and a few other auto parts stores, no one has heard of anything like this being done. Ever.
Is "spring wrap" necessary? Or rather... does it have any benefits? Will I notice any noise if I decide to go without it? Please discuss...

I used some vinyl helix cut wrap from Home Depot on my Progress springs. It's not necessary. I don't have it on my Tokico setup. All it does is stop the noise of the spring metal to metal contact. You don't have to have it though. I haven't had any problems by going without it. It's your call.
