Overheating rotors & pads
I replaced my rear rotors and brakes a week ago and today i'm coming off of the highway after about 80+ mph driving and I smelled brakes and saw smoke coming out of the my right rear wheel. I guess I didn't compress the piston enough. What damage have I done...it's not as easy as just taking it all apart and pushing the piston in further is it?
Not likely,if you didn't compress the caliper piston enough, the caliper wouldn't even clear the pads enough when you reinstalled the caliper...
You either have a frozen caliper[needs to be replaced] or one or both of the slide pins are frozen[rusted]...If it is a rusted slide pin,you can use some pliers to remove the pin, then use a drill/w drill bit of the same size as the slide pin hole to remove the rust-n- junk from the slide pin hole.....Also,use sandpaper or a wire wheel to remove the rust from the pin itself..Regrease the slide pin hole/slide pin/reinstall pin/all other crap...
