FSTB questions...in regards to fitment/material
I have a couple questions regarding FSTB...
I've heard that steel or titanium strut bars are very stiff and reduce alot of chassis flex and body roll, and aluminum bars are cheap and flex easily {wich is what they're supposed to eliminate}, but many people have recomended the Alutec FSTB which is an aluminum bar...what's more important when considering a strut bar, material or construction?
Also, I noticed that cattman sells a strut bar for all 89-2002 maximas...
Are all FSTB the same measurements for the gen 3 through gen 5?
Could I buy an Alutec bar for a gen 3 or 4 and have it bolt on directly to my gen 5, or is the cattman specially made to fit all those years

neither....none of them is "better" than the others. The only considerations are:
1. fit....some FSTBs have issues rubbing on the manifold
2. looks. That's what people buy an FSTB for.
In terms of performance, it is such a tiny upgrade, whether it's made of steel or titanium or aluminum doesn't matter at all.
A LTB has a much greater effect on handling than a FSTB does.
btw, my FSTB is aluminum and I will admit it's pretty much just there to look pretty in the engine bay. I notice very littel difference with it on and off, even when autocrossing.

Aluminum is actually quite a bit stiffer than steel. It's weaker and more brittle, but it's stiffer....
I second Irish about FSTB's not making much difference compared to a LTB2. I wish we had non-adjustable 3-point FSTBs that mounted to the firewall as well as the strut towers.

Thanks for the help...
I'm still running the stock struts on my GLE which are pretty soft. I'm dropped a little bit, so the handling improved slightly, but I still get quite a bit of body roll, chassis flex...
People keep telling me that a good strut bar will make huge improvements in cornering...
Also, does anybody know if a strut bar for a gen 3 & 4 will fit a gen 5?
Cattman sells a strut bar that fits all 89-2002 max's...is this a custom bar made specifically to fit all 3 gens?
