Question with the Q45/J30 Calipers

I've noticed this mod seems pretty popular among the older maximas, but how well can it be applied to the 5th gens? particularly the 5.5s? I noticed over at racingbrakes.com they have kits that are simular to the brackets idea that is being used with Jeff and Matt's setup, except that it's just replacing the standard bracket with an enlarged one. Would a kit like this:

be able to accept the J30 Calipers? I'm mainly curious as I'm trying to see if i should go this route, or just keep saving for those K-Sport BBKs over on the GD forum.

Get Jeff92se's Cobra BBK And buy my Q45 calipers. You will have a nice 13"/2 piston caliper setup.

heh. are your calipers painted? and I'm all for supporting a fellow .org member, but aren't his brackets basically a piece that goes between the stock caliper bracket and the stock mounting point? I'm interested in the kit on that site mainly because it preserves the integrity of the stock system.

no. jeffs brakets allow you to use a bigger rotor and a different caliper where as in the link you posted, they pretty much only allow you to upgrade to a larger rotor size while keeping your stock calipers. and for the money. i would do a 300zx bbk and actually have $100-$200 left over in my pocket.

ksport BBK are overpriced for what they are. if u want to spend that much, get Stillen or AP racing.

Upgrading to the Q/J calipers and using the Q/J rotors is a very basic upgrade. It will give you some increased fade resistance (2 piston and thicker rotors) but since the rotors are the same size (well actually they will be slightly smaller after you shave them down), they won't give you any significanct increase in braking power.

With the Q calipers, I would have to utilize the Q rotors? That's a load of junk...I was hoping that something like Matt's 6th rotor BBK could let the Q calipers bolt up. I was just looking at getting some extra braking force on larger rotors without significant changes to the brake setup as a whole. My link was really just meant to illustrate the caliper brakets i mentioned in the post to aid in illustrating what I'm discussing.

PS- K-Sport BBK 8-pot kit is currently on GD for $1100. . whereas the AP racing kit is just under $1900? why would I want to spend $800 more on just the fronts when that would almost put me in for enough to get the Rear K-sport setup(same price as front currently) whereas I don't see any matching rear setup from fastbrakes, stillen, wilwood, for my 5.5gen?

u can use cobra rotors with Q calipers but WHY? you can have the z32 bbk for 400. why get the Q? now if u want to go spend some 1100 on brakes, then be it.
