Hmmmm...Just cought the thread and I am interested. Now that I dont have to drive back and forth for work I start modding the Max the way I want...

 

In the spirit of the new All Motor forum, is there anything new to be heard about this? Don't mean to hassle, just want to know if I should start looking for a IM to send you in the near future.

SR20, Will the DE-K IM ship with both upper and lower IMs and what will the projected price be?

Im asking this for all us 4th gens that want to do the DE-K swap

 

DE-K is completely different pimpmobile smaller ports and a cable controlled TB

Hm, the ports on the DE-K are smaller? The DE TB can be bolted up with an adapter plate and some fabbing. Since it provides better gains than a MEVI stock a modified version will be most useful. A modified DE IM would be nice too

maybe i was mis informed but two maxima guys at the races on sat told me that the 3.5 VI is able to be put on the 4th gens and you dont get any low end power loss? or are they talking about your mod???

 

The VQ35 IM will not bolt upto the VQ30 heads. The ports are different between the two.

The VI from the 2000-2001 VQ30 can be used on the 95-99 VQ with a bit of work. It uses a dual runner design and eliminates the low end loss associated with a MEVI. There was a thread a few months back about putting the 00-01 (-K) intake manifold onto the 95-99 VQ, so it has been done.
I was just thinking to myself a bored out or modified 5thgen intake would provide awesome gains compared to a MEVI. Also it would allow it to fit better with the 95-99 heads since the ports on the 00-01 VI are smaller (thanks tilley).

Im not sure exactly what you mean by that but the lower intake manifold by the heads is bigger than the 95-99 and polished prob to make up for the butterflys there.
I removed mine so i get the benifits .

Im convinced that i gained prob 15 fwhp peak from the 00 vi . And more from other spots in the power band.

It looks like a digital clock reset. It has H if you turn it ccw and M if you turn it cw.

Also, I haven't seen one, but US SERs have 9000rpm tachs.

I am in VA, and I am interested in a modded IM for a fourth gen (DE-K or something else), I just dont want a MEVI. I am boosted too if you have any desire to test one on a boosted fourth gen.

 

Maybe I'm missing something but what exactly are you modifying on the IM that will change it so much?

who knows. I am getting kinf of impatient of VQ35 products. I will sell my car before I get to seriously mod it. I guarantee sr20s IM will be well worth the wait but I am thinking of getting one myself and starting to play. There is enough information online for a DIYer to mod an IM.

Good thing for the faint of heart is he is doing all the work. Haven't seen an update in a while or a projected release date so I am kind of beginning to think the project wont be finished.
