Also, what's that nipple on the side for, vacuum?

If so, couldn't you have just tapped off the one on the top of the IM neck?

I think it comes like that from the factory.

I filled the groove with JB Weld, the gray stuff you can see in the first picture. When I enlarged the throat, I sanded into the JB Weld a bit.

So, you'll just add some kind of rubber gasket?

Also, which year PF throttle-body will work?

I'll make a gasket from gasket material for the adapter to IM interface, and use the oem Pathfinder TB gasket between the TB and adapter plate.

2000-2001 Pathfinder throttle bodies from the VQ35 engine. Later TBs have the throttle-by-wire, or whatever you call it.

This all looks very familiar.

It's awesome you took pics of all the steps. The last thing on my mind during the swap was taking pictures. I was just hoping to God I could get it running with minimal problems.

I will leave the 4th gen IACV connected electrically, but disconnected mechanically.

About 6-8 months ago I did a little experiment where I blocked off the idle air supply hose, effectively removing the IACV from the system. I adjusted idle speed with the butterfly adjustment screw on the throttle body. I've been running that way ever since. Idle speed is a little low at startup when cold, but once the engine warms up after a few minutes of driving it idles perfectly at 750 rpm. So I am going the same route with the 00VI. That way I don't have to make that complicated affair that Krismax made to accomodate the 4th gen IACV.

Did you use some sort of metal sleeve for this hole you made?

No. There is already a brass sleeve in the hole next to the bolt, and that supplies plenty of strength to that area.

Yep, I just used the rubber o-ring type gasket and a flat plate. I used .25" thick plate, which is too thick. It interfered slightly with the egr stuff underneath. Better to use .125" plate.

since you blocked off the EGR port on the 00VI how will you get a check engine light? i was thinking of just going to the dealer and buying the 00 EGR pipe. i got alot of questions on how the whole EGR issue can be dealt with. somebody said that the whole system can be eliminated. any help would be appreiated.

The definative EGR thread.
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=351657
The only thing the thread lacks is the required resistor to trick the ECU. My assumption is that the EGR stuff is the same from 4th gen 3.0's to 5th gen 3.0's.

i already have one in my coat closet . i've had it since july 2003. dont want to install it untill i have all my bases covered information wise.

funny part is the 180 degree rotation of the 4 th gen lower intake manifold never ocurred to me. as i have done a knock sensor on my first (red) 4th gen and replaced the rear injectors on my second (white) 4th gen. anyway i have a plan so i can retain my 4th gen iacv (similar to the adapter that one of the other 00-01VI guys used)

What is your plan you have so you ca retain the 4th gen IACV? I'm doing the swap next week when I get the '00VI.

Goodhead: Do you have the '00 EGR guide tube? I may be intrested.

That is aluminum, 6061-T6, which is way too hard for this application, but it was a scrap piece I got from work.

I just got my '00VI today. I'd like to do the same thing you did with that. What type of material should I use? Just a softer piece of aluminum? Thanks.

Well I have to come up with a better IACV setup... At idle I dont think my car is getting enough air, probly due to the hose being too small and that way its looking it looks really crimpped (sp). the ID of the hose is only 3/8"..... too small right?

I am thinking about just removing it alltogether but still keep it connected...

StephenMax: Did your PCV valve fit ok? Mine sure as h3ll didnt and I had to get a rubber elbow.

Nope, pcv valve wouldn't fit under the 00VI. Right now I'm not using one, which is better for boosted cars anyway because sometimes pcv valves will leak boost pressure into the valve covers.

I tried the no IACV route this last week and did not like it at all. Went back to my 5th gen IACV set-up. I've got the 4th gen IACV just about ready to go on. I may try it for awhile and see if it makes enough difference to make me want to keep it. I wish there was a way to incorporate an idle adjustment screw into the 5th gen IACV. Then I'd keep it for sure.

On the DE-k, the PCV hole is angled to fit under the manifold. I didn't even try to mess with it, I just swapped valve covers.

Im going to play around with my IACV setup a little bit more.. Swap for bigger hoses, attach an elbow so the hose does not pinch...

I just put a 90degree elbow in and hooked the pcv to that

Very nice reading guys. Stephen,I'm not trying to push, cause I don't have the cash right now anyways, but have you got that write up? I want to know exactly what this takes before I jump in.

Thanks, and once again, no rush.
