Question about headers?

Ok after reading a thread in which SR20DEN stated that the hotshot 2k2-2k3 headers will fit on the 2k-2k1 with some slight modification i am now thinking about purchasing these for Xmas. I just have a couple of things i want to clear up. I have heard that the newer batches of the hotshot headers have some fittment issues. Is this true and how severe are the fittment issues? Also i thought the 2k2-3 headers only fit the cali spec 2k-2k1 whereas i have a fedspec. I would prefer to get the hotshot due to the price, but only if they are of decent quality and fittment.

Thanks
Chris

Chris,

Spend the money and get the Cattman ones IMHO. If you were able to have SR install the HotShots, then I'd go that route.

Rumor has it that HotShot will be working on a VQ30 header in Jan...no idea what that means though.

Guys like you willing to try cool new **** out.

Cattmans' are PROVEN, the fitment is better, so I think it's worth it.

its not that much work they just need different O2 sensor locations.

HS are for 2K2, so no EGR. Chris has EGR.

Didn't say it was a lot of work, just that until HS releases the VQ30 version, I'd buy the Cattmans.

Yea that is what SR said the 2 problems were o2 location and EGR. Is it neccessary to hook up the EGR to the headers? Also he said something about moving the AC compressor line to allow fittment for the 02 sensor. Is this a hard line or just a rubber hose?

IIRC the last set of HS headers he mentioned required a bit of dremmeling to clear the steering rack or something.

Nah i dont know about all that. I don't guess you've talked to him lately? His car is going to be a absolute animal. He is rebuilding his engine(performance rods, pistons, headgasket etc.), bigger injectorss, redoing all his turbo piping, putting in a 4th gen jwt ecu with custom wirring harness, and he is dropping in a bigger turbo and cranking up the boost to around 20 psi i think he said. Needless to say it is going to be interesting to se what he will run with slicks. He keeps rubbing it in my face about his car being faster so i just tell him his car looks like a pos and mine looks sexy

Btw how have you been doing?

yea but i don't think he is talking BS this time although i wish he was . It actually under the knife as we speak and should be done in about a month or two. The guy that is doing it is a master when it comes to nissan performance. If you look at nissan performance magazine he is the guy with the turbocharged sentra from louisiana
