2000 Maxima motor, Will it bolt up to 95' 5speed Tranny?

I am wondering if the '00 VQ30DE Motor will bolt up to a '95 Tranny? Also how different is the wiring on the '00 motor? I am looking into swapping in one in my '95. Any one see any issues that will affect the probability of this working out?

Thanks,

-Nick

It will work but I dunno why you'd want to do that. The 1995s are prone to have badly adjusted bearings from the factory. It got fixed by 1997.

Hell even a 6-speed would work. The best maxima trannies (5-speeds) are 1997-2001.

The reason I ask is because My tranny has been doing fine and now has a Exedy Racing clutch in it. Have had no bearing problems or symptoms of them failing (knock on wood). What about the wiring harness for the '95, will it be compatible with the '00 Motor?

Thanks,

Just pull off everything you dont need off of the 00 motor. The injectors and intake manifold are different, but they can be used with some modification..

Strip everything off of the 00 motor down to the block (hoses, wires, etc etc) the 4th and 5th gen motors should look identical. The 5th gen will have a thing by the knock sensor for a coolant passage. Thats the only difference I can think of. You reuse the 4th gen harness, hoses, and stuff.

Are you positive on this? Reuse the sensors and such off my 4th Gen Vq then? This sounds good then.

Thanks,

Yes all VQ engines will fit with all transmissions that were meant for the VQ. Getting a 6 speed is work however is a little more difficult since it uses cable shifting. You need to use most of the 4th gen sensors. I would keep the intake manifold since that is the biggest difference.

It is easier to just swap in the IM if you engine is not bad or maybe spend a little more money and get a VQ35 swap.
