Yet another, 00VI question

Well a couple, so humour me please. First, I'm an auto, so i relize I'm gonna have to shift manually to ever see the higher end of the VI. I have questions toward the RPM switches though. One being, if I get a summit switch, can this be "set" to keep open? Or is it a open/close universal setting? And since I'm a auto, when I switch gears, specially from first to second, my rpms' are gonna drop to somewhere around 4200-4400(not sure, cause I don't have the rev limit changed yet). If I get the Apex-i V-AFC II, I've read a couple members that this can be set to stay "on" on the v-tec setting, which the members are using to keep the VI open, would be worth it to keep it open, even at my lows of 4400RPM? Thanks for help in advance guys.

Just get a Summit RPM switch, make it open at 4600. So WHENEVER the car hits 4600rpms, the VI will open.

you could get a vafc 2 as well. you can chance the switchover and do some dyno tuning for a little extra power.

If you don't have an extended rev limit manually shifting won't get you anywhere. Am I right?

will the 00-01 Autos you will run quicker manually shifting. The dek's make power all the way to redline so its best to tach the car out to run the fastest. From my experiences riding in a friends car the 01 Autos shift at like 6k if you leave in in D/OD. So if done right the car will run faster manually shifting.

i hope to be able to do some dyno testing with a vafc2 and see where my optimal switchover is. im auto so i will still have to manually shift even if i get the extended redline because of the tcm. but blu is right, the auto shifts at or just before 6 if left in d so to get everything out of it even stock, you have to manually shift it.

My auto never shifter before redline if I was WOT, never. What I was trying to say is that without an ECU you still can only go to redline anyway not 7200rpm like you would with an ECU upgrade.

correct. not sure on the 3.5 but every 2k/2k1 auto i have been in or driven has always shifted at 6k. i know there is some error to be accounted for so my basis is off reading of my ob2 software.

i thought most people running a mevi were running a harlan or summit switch close to 5000-5200. i have heard a few people opinion that it should be lower around 4600 but i hope to do some testing on my own just to confirm.

You don't even have a power valve to be "open" probably.

The MEVI set to open before 5200-5400 is useless. There have been dynos posted and I have tried adjusting mine lower, resulting in a noticable drop in power. Just trying to save people some time.

DEK = 4600rpm unless you have headers, then the stock 5000 is damn close.

MEVI = 5200+rpm

i would be interested too. that would save me getting the vafc since i already have headers and having the stock 5k switchover. if that is the case ill just pick up a used safc and tune with that.

what do the headers have to do with the switchover point?? dynos have shown 4600rpm for the 00 vi is the best switchover point and one said he ran his fastest track times with 4600 point. i have SR headers and a 01vi just waiting to dyno..

i think he was giving the optimal points for the switchover. if you dont have headers then it should be lower. i could be reading it wrong but thats what i got.

I don't feel that I would need to go to 7100 in first gear so I'm going to stick with the computer handle that shift at 6500 but I'll just switch to 3rd manually.
