Why do 3.5 intake cams have to be modded to work in VQ35DE going into 4th gen?

A buddy of mine and I are trying to figure out why the intake cams in the 3.5 will have to be modded to work with the full 3.5 in a 4th gen. Is it because the VTC will be removed? Or because the timing equipment will be from the VQ30DE?

Yeah he is this for a buddy of mine in the Midwest thats also interested in the swap he brought up the question and I figured I'd ask here, but I will ask Tilley next time I speak to him he explained once before but I don't remember the exact details as to why I don't know enough about motors yet...
They need to be modified because the dowel pin holes on the 3.5 cams are in a different location than stock 3.0 cams. They are moving the dowel pin hole to a different location on the cam to maintain stock cam timing.
