Would the VQ40 be a worthwhile swap?

Something you guys may have overlooked is the rear block bolt pattern, where the transmission bolts up.

I have seen the rear face of the 3.5 and 4.0 side by side, and they are hopelessly different.
The FWD trans would require extreme mods to bolt up to the 4.0.

No pics, maybe someone can substantiate this fact.

That is virtually impossible.

So no. It has never been done and it never will be done.
Not even Howard Hughes would try this one.

I'm glad this turned into an interesting discussion. I do have a question though:
You guys mention that the block is taller but I thought in a whole line of engines the block would not change. What makes the block taller, the actual block or the heads and/or oilpan?
I have a plain old auto with intake, and ypipe. All my buddies call me the "sleeper" due to I beat a 96 Neon with 3lbs of boost from a 20 MPH roll. And have beaten 96 Mustang GTs and such.

This is the reason why I love the Maxima. Because just like you guys I get the same BS here as well. "Dude you have a Maxima your car is slower than me on foot"

Once I finally have a black 5spd max, I will also be planning on a VQ35 and then I'll really surprise the hell out of everyone.

Yeah just last Saturday two guys came to see me after one of my runs. They asked what the hell I had done to it. One of them said "I was like "hey look he came here with his dad's car", then 13.35 lights up on the board. "Maybe not"". Lots of fun.
