My New (used) VQ

Just got my VQ35 in. pics at http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/818342
Sorry about cardomain, but I'm too lazy to post on the org
Its from a 2002 max, side collision vehicle, 28,000 miles for 880 bucks shipped. I'll probably be selling a lot of parts off this, and I'll tell ya'll when I get it all apart.

^ I think he's doing the VQ35 swap, so he will need the rods, pistons, etc.

BTW: my engine was $775 shipped, 29k miles

I hate you. I paid 1200$cnd, which is the equivalent of about 980$US. 33k miles. But Canada sucks for motors, far less options.

Don't feel bad, I paid $1300cdn for mine (29K) but they left the power steering, idlers, engine cover and full wiring harness attached.

For me they left the wiring harness too. No engine cover though.

When buying a used motor from a wrecker, do you guys ask for the VIN and check it out first?

I checked mine out first. Looked brand new, hyper clean, and now that I've opened it a little, there's nothing blown in there. I wouldn't be worried about a blown motor... how many FWD N/A VQ35DE's have been blown? 0.

Well I mean--do you check the VIN to make sure it is exactly what you are getting? For example, a 2002 engine is from a 2002 Maxima.. It's fed spec, not cali spec, the mileage is accurate, etc

I believe whether it's fed spec or cali spec doesn't matter for the engine alone. Differences are in the exhaust/intake system I believe. Nissan wouldn't change anything IN the engine just to accomodate a certain state.

The emissions of the car is determined by the ECU/I/E and sometimes IM. So for hybrid setups where only the 3.5 bottom end is used it doesn't matter.

I'll be doing it myself. Its being stripped right now, I'm amazed at how much crap they left on the engine, but hey, more to sell. I'll be building it up for turbo-use, have someone else do the block work. I'll list a for-sale list whenever I finalize what I'm keeping/selling.
