Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, but I figured gearheads in the all motor section would know the most about car books, and I can't find a forum that fits this question well

the short version:
What are some good books on engines/forced induction/transmissions/brake systems/ect. anything to do with modding/fixing cars

the long version:
I like to learn things on my own and I want to learn about car systems. I really don't have the money or time to take classes, so I might as well get some books about cars to read. I'm most interested in books on manual transmissions and engines, as I will likely need some transmission work soon.

please at least move this post instead of deleting if it's in a bad spot. I had a bad experience being banned from a forum just for posting something in the wrong spot

well a good book for repairs is the All mighty Haynes Manual

if you want to learn more about boosting motors (specifically thru turbocharging) check out Maximum Boost by corky bell, of bell engineering

the book has some blatant plugs for their variable pitch turbo design project, but if you take those suggestions with a grain of salt the book is a great resourse
