Whats Needed for VI Swap ??

Ive been following the all motor forum alittle bit and came up with a list that I will need somwhat...please tell me what im missing

00'VI Manifold (any special one to look for ?)

IACV Adaptor Plate StephanMax
Throttle Body Plate StephanMax

The IACV, after hooking up to the plate, can be mounted anywhere in the engine bay ?? correct ??

Ill be using the 4th gen Lower Manifold so I can keep my 370's...

Ive mulled over this option many times, I just never have ordered the manifold and just done it...it is an option though

-matt

Ive had my manifold off one time already so I do know what needs to be done....Grinding off the #3 and #5 Coil bosses isnt much of a big deal....

Any help would be greatly appreciated

That looks like all you need. I see you already have a MEVI so you have all the little extras to operate the vacuum. How much does stephenmax make the adaptor plates for?

Can one avoid grinding down the coil pack bosses by using a 00+ rear valve cover?

SWEEEET!!! And there hasn't been any complaints from those that used the rear 3 5th gen coils with the front 3 being 4th gen?
Man, this VI retrofit is getting more and more complex the closer I get to doing it. When I first heard about it, there wasn't any mention of custom adapter plates, IACV relocation, coil pack harness splicing and mounting boss grinding.
Those seem to cover the majority of them though and thanx to such "insights" gained from the trial and error experience of others, I can now sit here and "complain" about how complex this once "impossible" retrofit currently is. lol I'm not complaining, really, jus noting. I'm also VERY grateful for the efforts put forth by yourself and others in pioneering the practicality of this retrofit. W/ out those efforts it'd be a loooong time b4 I attempted and successfully executed this mod. Thanx again to all who paved the way for this!!!
As u can prolly tell, I'm not yet a fan of "custom auto work" (anything requiring the use of a drill, dremel or any other such tool that can very easily damage the car ur workin on) since I haven't yet been able to pursure my desired career as an automotive engineer. So for now I stick to bolt ons and such. But I practice when I can so that aint bad. Sorry bout rambling on I'll stop now.

Thanx. I'll contact u when I have the money. For the last time, about how much should I expect to pay for all parts necessary for the 00VI mod including adapter plates? I'm gonna try junk yards first but all the ones near me don't seem to stock parts for our cars.
How much did u pay?
Could it be done for around $600?

I got a free broken 00 engine. So my swap only cost me adapter plates and hoses.

Adapter plates should cost around $100-200, I don't know how much Stephen Max charges.
$20-30 for hoses and clamps
$45 for RPM Swtich
150-300? for upper IM
20-50bucks for rear vavle cover

It seems locating and purchasing the parts is gonna b as hard as or harder than the actual assembly process! I doubt I'll be as lucky as u were to find a whole engine like that.
How much did u get the engine for and where'd u get it from?
I'm pricing the parts right now at nissan-parts-dealer.com and I'd end up paying over 1200k if I got the parts from them. I shoulda known better since the site had the word "dealer" in it. lol
Like I said I doubt I'll find them from any dealer around me so the only other option I can think of is searchin car-parts.com which I'm doin now.
I prolly could check the For Sale forums too huh? Think I'll try that next.
Maybe I could have someone locate and maybe procure the parts for me and I'll give them the $$ and a lil extra too if they actually get a hold of them.

My friend blew his engine and I bought him a Place Racing CAI for it

It might be cheaper for you to find a used 00engine from www.car-part.com for about 400-500dollars.

You want to try to get a Fedspec pre June but any will work just fine

The Upper Manifold is kinda rair..I was on there the other day and there are only 3 and two of them are out in CA, and one is from an infiniti

I dont wanna do this cause it seems too complex and too many things that can go wrong..If I had someone in my area that knew what they were doing and lend a hand and mind, then I would consider it...but since i dont, i think its too complex

There is no reward without risk.

But if you don't feel comfortable with it yourself then yes maybe you'd want to find someone to help you. It definitely is not just a bolt-on job.

I def. c where ur comin from cuz I changed my mine quite a few times but as they say, nothing wagered, nothing gained!
Since I'm planning on keeping this car at least til the end of next year, I can't imagine not having this mod for that long. Especially since my car feels like a Honda Civic off the line due to the EGR system malfunctioning and causing my knock sensor to pull timing waaaay back. My mom has a 98 GXE that looks like it's been thru WWIII and hasn't been as well maintained as mine and will smoke my car any day of the week!! If only u knew wut that feels like. That's motivation fo yo azzz!
Trust me I know wut it feels like when ur getting passed by CIVICS (of all cars) off the line and it's not flattering. Once I get that fixed, NEVER again!!! One of the main reasons y I bought this car was expressly for it's low end grunt and I can't wait to get that back and much much more!!!

Any tips on what area of the country to get the engine from or what to look for?
Taking into consideration like environmental conditions, etc that would negatively affect the condition of the engine. Jus tryina make sure it's a one-time deal na mean?

it would also help if you had someone else with a 3.0 4th gen helping you because when me and dave did my VI, we looked at his car for the vacuum hoses. it made things alot easier.

Swirl vavles are not needed, there is no prob if you do get them. 01Have no EGR which might be a plus or minus depending on if you are gonna keep the EGR system or not.
7-99Cali have swirl vavles and EGR I believe.

If you're using a 4th gen LIM you don't need to worry about swirl valves... just get a 2000 fed spec Upper Manifold. That's the easiest.

EGR is easy to keep if you need it for emissions (use the 00 guide tube), otherwise it's up to you. I kept mine because we have emissions testing here.
