Quick Vi Question

to those who used a33 upper and a32 lower, do you know what size bit you used to drill into the a32 lower? Is it possible to use bolts and nuts instead of helicoils? < i know nothing about them.

all help is appreciated.

Not sure what you're asking. The A43 LIM has holes for 8 mm bolts. You can use two of them for mounting the 00vi to, but the 00vi bolts are 6 mm. So you can use helicoils or keenserts to convert from 8 mm to a 6 mm hole and use the 00vi hardware, or you can drill out the 00vi bolt holes to accept 8 mm mounting bolts. That takes care of two of the mounting bolts. The other two bolts need new 6 mm threaded holes drilled into the LIM. Some people are using only the front two holes, but you run the risk of an intake leak.

I can make you a predrilled and Keenserted 4th gen LIM for $125, and I will refund you $50 when you send me your old LIM.

thanks for your input i guess when i posted the question i hadn't even concidered the fact that the 00 and 95-99 holes were different sizes, i will probably drill the holes in the a33 to accept the 8mm bolts, my other question was if instead of making 2 threaded holes (wouldn't know where to begin) if i could run holes thru and use a bolt and locknut? would this create an air leak problem?

^^^ thanks for your offer and i already have a spair lower so i'm trying to see what i can do on my own

It wouldn't create an air leak, but I don't know how you would hold the nuts in place while you start the bolts into them. Since you are going to drill holes in the LIM anyway, you might as well just thread them with a 6 mm tap.

What I did was aluminum weld the old holes shut, and drilled all new 1/4-20 holes. I used American sizes because I couldn't find a metric bolt that long around where I live to save my butt without special ordering them.
