i regret doing the vi swap
i no longer regret doing the vi swap<UPDATE>
ever since i did the swap and i hate my car, the way it drives, idles and hesitates when wot , why!!!!! i don't know ,, i'm using the vi00 with 4th gen lim and 4th iacv , it actually idles fine after playing with the idle screw however it hesitates and today it won't rev past 2000rpm and bogs down then it overheated really fast right after,,, the only thing that i'm trying to take care of is the freakin' egr but i don't have experience with them , right now it's open to the engine bay <stupid i know> ,,
anybody experienced something like that

An overheating engine will send the ecu into fail safe mode, resulting in a 2000 rpm rev limit.
It sounds like you have cooling problems, maybe a stuck thermostat. The 00vi won't cause engine overheating.

sorry to go off topic but how hard is it to do this modification? i'm pretty interested since its said to be better than the MEVI and usim.
on the dynos i saw the mevi was below torque/hp considerably all the way until like very high RPM. that seemed like a downgrade to me (i dont have traction problems). so is the vi similar? where it puts more hp at very very high end and sucks out power from the lower range?

the 2000rpm rev limit is either MAF or TPS.
which throttle body did you use 4th gen? 5th gen? PF? VQ35?
unplug the TPS connectors and see if it revs past 2000. if it does, then you have to properly set up your TPS (with multimeter) the haynes manual/FSM describe the process in detail.
recently a friend's maxima had the TPS issue, same symptoms as yours.

yeap..... This is why many choose to go for the MEVI swap, like me, sure there's not as much power gains..... but it's so easy to do compared to the 00VI!
I would love to go for the extra power gains as long as I knew every single step for a sure install.
Does anyone know where to find a detailed step by step guide of how to install an 00VI? Maybe you should do a very detailed write up of how you set it up StephenMax.

i jsut started a thread to get more info about this, and i've been told there is many ways to do it. well im certainly not familiar with any of it so that leaves me pretty lost if everything is up in the air as far as what is needed.
you only need to know the hoses routings and common sense, the vacuum routings is what screwed me up and my manual says little to nothing about them,,, oh and you need a reliable source of tools on demand
I've seen a few installs in person and it shouldn't be rocket science to know what is what in order to make the irght connections with the vacuum hoses. There's really not much to it.

for the coolant lines i had to block 3 lines if anybody can verify that number,, if you guys had to block more then i have a coolant leak which i can't see however my radiator is losing coolant fluid hmmmmmmmm!!!!! stephen where's the line that goes to the back of manifold !!that might be the one!!!!

You may want to give it a shot.

trust me, once the VI is working how its supposed to, you will love it to death. I went through hell with mine, and if we had to do it again, it wouldnt be so bad, but once everything was ok, it was awesome. You will indeed be sh!tting bricks feeling power all the way to 6600, depending on your ecu
yea i'm gonna take some pics and show you guys the third hose i had to block and i can't find a pair for it which i think is the reason i'm losing coolant fluid,, i don't think i'm gonna have enough time to experience the all motor power because i'm going turbo right after , i have all the stuff waiting for me to start working but i'm not about to do it till i taKE care of the overheating prob. ,i'm so pissed off

There are some big coolant hoses that go to the firewall but you shouldn't have messed with them during the swap. The only coolant lines that should have been removed lead to the throttle body and egr guide tube. In the engine drawing above there are two (red) highlighted hose. This is a pic for the highlighted hose on the rightside
And for the left highlighted hose
The two hoses are next to the fuel rail and lower manifold on the rightside of the car. If you can't find were the hole is just fill your radiator with water and let your car run and find out where it is.
