DE-K Injector harness splicing

Does anyone know what has to be done to the wires on the injector harness when installing a DE-K engine into a fourth gen. I heard it has to spliced but in what way, and was it hard?

Since the injector harness connectors are different, you have to cut off the 4th gen connectors and solder on the 5th gen connectors. If you have never soldered before, maybe you should find someone to do it for you. It's not hard, but it does require some technique to do it correctly. Don't cut corners and do a cold splice or a crimp. You will end up with problems in the long run.

When you do the soldering, retain the original orientation of the wires relative to the connector. That is, before you cut off the old connector, look at which wire is on the left side and which is on the right side, and keep that orientation when you solder on the new connector.

Also, get some heat shrink tubing from Radio Shack or Home Depot and use that for insulating the solder joint. Electrical tape has a tendency for losing its grip in elevated temps and coming off. Or get some electrician's tape made for elevated temp situations, but the tubing is best.

Ummm, sorta. You have to take the 4th gen connectors off, and solder the 5th gen connectors onto the wiring harness. Maybe that is what you meant, but just to be sure, you are going to use the 5th gen injectors that come with the DE-K, right?

How's it coming? Soldering the injectors was the worst part for me.
