00VI questions/understanding options/suggestions please

Long story short: I am going to have to pull my upper intake manifold so that I can replace the gasket (I have a vacuum leak that is probably coming from the gasket between the UIM and LIM). I figure this is the absolute perfect time to perform the 00VI modification, so I’ve been reading up on the five threads in the stickies. However, there are so many options to go with and decide upon, that it is really confusing to figure out exactly what I would have to do depending on my needs. So the purpose of this thread is to tell you guys (the experts) what my plans are, or what my mechanical/electrical limitations are so that you can suggest a setup for me.
Basically, I want to keep everything as much fourth gen as possible. I cannot/have not had experience with soldering, so if I am understanding it correctly, using the LIM from a 5th gen. is out of the question. I want to keep my EGR if possible also. I would like to use 4th gen TB/IACV also. One question about the IACV, I also heard of some not using an IACV, how would this affect drivability?
Thanks for reading and hopefully this isn’t seen as someone not researching. Honestly, it’s hard to understand what I should do from seeing all of the different setups people are using.

I posted some info in this thread:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=430016

If I were you I'd use the 4th gen lower, and buy adapters for the 4th gen TB and IACV. Also buy the EGR guide Tube for the 5th gen.

I'd keep the IAC, it's not that much of a pain that it's worth removing completely.

you don't need to remove the complete upper intake manifold to change the gasket,

you just need to remove the intake assembly, brake booster hose on top, the two bolts holding it in the rear(very hard to get to, be patient), and of course the four bolts that hold it to the lower IM.

then lift the IM up and to the back and replace the gasket

there are many wires, brackets, and hoses to remove it completely just to change the gasket.

Well, thats definately good to know...still interested in researching the swap though even if I dont get a chance to do it when changing the gasket.
And also, thanks Maximumhp for that link!

The way I'm doing my setup is the 5th gen upper, 4th gen lower, 5th gen TB, and 4th gen IACV. I think that way, it will be the easiest.

I agree, If I had to do it again, I think I'd pony up the money for the 5th gen TB and do exactly what you have.

I'm am doing this swap and I decided to go with a 4th gen TB. Why would you rather go with a 5th gen TB? The throttle cables twisting?
