VQ35 timing chain question

Hey, i'm planning on doing the swap, everything seems pretty straightforward, but there's one thing that's concerning me, the timing chain. Since it has to be switched with the VQ30 timing chain, and i would have to remove and drill the cams (as it says in the procedure), how would I make sure the timing is alright in the end? (it's the first time i've ever messed with timing on an engine.)

Would locking the flywheel with something be enough?

Also, as far as drilling the cams, what would I have to do? I'm considering taking them to Tilley, but I want to know if this is something that can be done by myself.

I'm really looking forward to doing the swap.

Thanks,
-Freddy

First step...download an FSM or buy a haynes manual. The procedure to make sure the timing is correct is in either one.

Don't be cheap and send them to him. It's not something just anyone can do. Knowing exactly where to drill the hole is not a simple thing.

alright, i have both the fsm and i bought the haynes...i'll look in both of them. Does Tilley not do a good job in drilling the cams? where would you recommend I take them?

You took what i said the wrong way. My bad. I mean don't be cheap...send them to him. He's done it quite a few times with good results. I wouldn't trust just anybody with that and he's definitely trustworthy from all accounts.

Thanks, will do. All i have to send are the cams, right? I'd hate to drive all the way over there with the whole engine..
