Running without EGR ??

Im planning on doing the 00VI swap in the spring, getting all the parts through the winter and doing the swap maybe over X-Mas break..if its kinda warm

Well I know Ill need a guide tube from a 5th gen, but Im throwing around the idea of totally taking out the EGR valve. Im not remotely worried about emissions, Im really worried about starting my car when the air it cold, and not haveing an idle problem. I know that the heat coming back into the EGR valve helps heat up the manifold air and helps warm up the engine...

Would I run into problems without the EGR valve in the car ?? Anyone in a cold climate, without EGR, can chime in here.

BTW: Guys with Pathfinder Throttle Body, do you have trouble with the cold start compared to the 4th gen TB ?? does it still kick up to about 1500 at start up, same as your 4th gen TB. ??

Im sure Ill have more questions...

The engine will run fine. You might get a CEL. I don't recommend it since it's illegal and you don't lose power and you pollute a lot more. NJ doesn't need anymore smog as it is.

If you want to change the TB, don't buy a PF TB-get a 02+ E-gas TB for cheap and modify it. Go check out the 3.5 sticky to see how to mod it. It's dam* near impossible to find a PF TB anyways.

Well I have one that Im buying...the thing is I want to know that the cold start idle will be ok wit it before I go and invest in it

I guess I can always sell it if I'm disapointed in it

It doesn't start in the cold for ****... but you can't blame that on the EGR. This car is so modded who knows what is causing that. Probably the 3x more fuel that my injectors dump as compared to stock.

The EGR is there to reduce NOX emissions. It doesn't have anything to do with starting the vehicle. EGR isn't even used during cold starts. You won't notice any difference on starts with or without it.

I don't believe the PF TB has a fast cam/cold idle.

No egr, no problems. The only reason i did away with mine was because of the headers.

EGR isn't used in idle (warm or cold) nor is it used during WOT if it is working properly. If the valve is stuck open from carbon deposits then it could easily affect idle among other things.

For some the cruise ear? or whatever either won't clear something on the IM or the cable isn't long enough. It depends on the adapter plate.
