Clutches?
Clutches?
Hi, I am currently doing the VQ35 swap and i know my stock clutch on my '99 won't do it. I read that i should get a better clutch. So my question is do i just need the actual clutch or do i need a new pressure plate and so forth? Thx.

If you're keeping the 3.0 go with the 5th gen clutch, its teh bestest!!!! Bites hard and hasn't slipped on me at all, even after repeated dumps and powershifting.
If you're going 3.5, i'd think twice, regular driving it should take it no problem, but no1 that does a 3.5 swap will drive it like a grandma. That motors makes some serious torque that I woudn't trust the 5th gen clutch to hold up to over the longrun. Spec Stage2 is what I'll be ordering :-)

I have the clutchnet 6-puck and it's held up to 6500 rpm clutch dumps and several 1.7 60 foots. Makes stop-and-go driving a bit jerky, but I tend to drive like I stole it.

Go with a SPEC stage 2 or 3, or an AP Racing clutch kit from Top Element. The AP kit is a little more $, but it will hold 340lb/ft of torque and it's an organic sprung hub disc with smooth driveability.
