Is there a way to test that it's working (VIAS) before installing everything?

I might be getting a IM thats been sitting out in the weather with no hood, It's all discolored, has anyone run into any problems besides the "arm" snapping loose?


How is this wired? From what I've read when the VIAS gets no power it's on the long runners (low end) and when it gets power it switched to the short runners (high end)

Is it as simple as 12V to the R/Y Wire or what?

Remove the VIAS cover on the driver side (3 screws) and check if the cup is still connected to the rod.

be careful with those soft-headed vias bolts, replace them with steel hex bolts if you can might be a good idea to have jbweld handy, since you're opening up the vias, you might as well do the fix..

My 00vi was pretty weathered looking when I got it. I gave it a good cleaning and painted it with satin black paint, and it looks great.

Looks to me like that discoloration is just sun bleaching. If everything else is in good condition it's probably no problem; nothing a nice coat of paint wouldn't cure.

When you painted, did you prep at all? Did you use high heat paint?

I gave it a thorough cleaning and degreasing with acetone. I can't remember exactly, but I think I did use a paint that can withstand engine heat. The 00vi itself doesn't really get too hot, but it can get up to 150 F and maybe more under the hood.

I also painted my manifold before install. It isn't nearly as nice as matty's because it got a little roughed up during the install, though.
