Yes i misshifted. It happens top of 3rd to 2nd. Engine rev needle shot to bottoms of cluster and my OBD II reader gauge is saying 8600rpm.It was only an instant i poped it right back out and into a higher gear. If i seriously broke something I would know by now right? It idles ok, no foreign noises. seems to run fine. It any damage was done it would show up right away correct?

Thanks kev that is the answer i was hoping for. I have been ringing it out for the last 20 mins to see how it feels and it feels for the most part the same. God bless the engineers who came up with this engine and bless mobil 1 5W30 synthetic

How did it sound up there?

You usually have to take them over 9000 before something lets go in instances like that. I know someone who mis-shifted his to 9800rpm when he bent the exhaust valves in #5 & #6. Other than that, his Vq30 was fine.

I know how you feel. I was messing around with a Mustang GT last week and I powershifted right into 2nd instead of 4th and got up to 8000RPM. First time it has happened and I hope it is the last. I kept listening for problems, but didn't find anything. I took it up to 140MPH twice the next night and still no problems so I guess I'm ok. I'm glad you don't seem to have any problems either.

Mike could you tell something was wrong? Did it still run? How did it feel?

Not sure which ECU you had in, but I had my JWT ECU at the time and shifted from 3rd to 2nd at 7200 so I had an extra 700 rpm jump on a normal maxima. I have done it a couple other times with the stock rev limiter and did not hurt anything, so I think it was the extra few revs from shifting at 7200 that did it that time.

No i was rocking the stock ECU. Drove to work this morning and got on her quite a bit, as far as i can tell everything is ok but only time will tell. It did 8600rpm. Idle hasn't changed and everything sounds the same. If anything starts getting fishy i am going to trade the car in.

A good way to be almost guaranteed not to misshift when shifting out of 3rd is holding the shifter with your hand on the left side, with your thumb pointing down. I always use this procedure and never misshifted once.

Happy to hear that everything is okay. I have done a few misshifts from 2nd to 1st right after installing my B&M and all was fine. I was racing my buddy in his SR20DET G20 and he did a 3rd to 2nd and had to get a new motor.

Well i haven't misshifted again So no. I will dyno sometime mid next month so i will see if the car is still making the power it was. It does however still run like i top.Idels perfectly and pulls like a bull.

I think with my mods, I'd be ok to rev little higher than 8k rpms. The only missing piece is prolly a 00VI as I am not satisfied with MEVI's top end performance. It seemed to be out right at 7100 rpms. But I will need further extended ECU to prove that. Or else, no one could talk me into overpowering downshifting my car.
