what im really asking is about the transmission.

is a 5speed better to use or the 6 speed.

which is easier to install?

alright with that said which would make more sence. leave the stock 4th gen auto trans and bolt on the 3.5. Swap out the 3.0 with auto trans for the 3.5 with 5spd. Or swap in a 4th gen 5spd and then a 3.5>?

In the end I would want 3.5L + 5MT.

If you have a functioning 4AT transmission in there now and drop a 3.5L, the 4AT may not last very long.

also is there a write up on here of someone doing a 3.5 swap in a 4th gen?

also i was wondering why nismo3112 is swapping around all these parts:

My setup:

3.5 Tilley cams, JWT spacers, 3.5 heads, 3.5 block (duh)
3.0 timing gears, chains, covers
3.0 Oil pan

?

I think your auto would be fine w/ the 3.5 if you do a vb mod a tranny cooler . I have been boosted for a year and a half now w/ no transmission problems and i am putting down alot more power than a 3.5L. How long the transmission last is dependent on how much you drive like a idiot. Heat is a auto's biggest enemy so if you only get on it once in awhile then your tranny will be fine.

It's the 3.5L's initial torque moving the entire vehicle initially off the line that kills its trannys, and I don't think off idle-2500 RPM you're making more torque, it be close. Unless you're spraying N2O off idle.

Yeah but don't auto's usually handle torque better than manuals? Also i thought that people have trouble with breaking 2nd or 3rd gear?

also can you use a stock 4th gen 5mt on a 3.5?

is so i think what would be best for me is

buying a crashed 4th gen 5spd and swap my car over to 5spd and then when i save up some more money buy a 3.5 from tilley
