Apexi AFC information needed

I want to get one of the Apexi AFC’s but don’t want to rush into another expensive mod without some research. After you install this unit and tune it, does the car remember the settings. Or will the controller loose the settings if you reset the ECU, unplug the battery, etc. and then have to tune it again. I am sure this might be an elementary question to some but I really want to learn how this works before I get it. Can someone help me understand how the above works?
Thanks

Naw the unit will not lose memory....so don't worry about it getting erased or deleted

its $250 or so on ebay...another $100 or so tuned....depending on what your AFR looks like, you will gain some hp....I suggest you drop in money into this AFC if you plan to get headers...it will be worth it

I have Headers thats why I was looking into this. So your saying tunning shold not cost more then $100 and you only need to do it one time unless other motor mods are done? I thought it would be alot more.

which kind of headers do u have? and what other mods?

$100 is just an estiimate...i know it varies from shop to shop....my local one over here charges me $150/hr for tuning....I just threw that $100 cuz I believe its the "average" # I have seen....

Yeah it should only require once....if the shop is good enough, they will get the AFR to 13.0-13.5:1

3hrs at $100-150 an hr. Made of money?
If it takes you any longer than an hr you have problems.

You could also get a wideband for around 250 and tune that baby yourself.

What kind of horsepower will a 99' a/t with bolt ons attain? And do you know what the factory a/f is, don't they run pretty rich? I just want to know if it is worth the money, don't want to spend that much for 5 hrpwr.

I think the best way to figure this out is to get a dyno with AF and see if you even need to adjust the maps. Every car is different, esp when you consider the effects of different bolt-ons. I actually haven't heard of 4th Gens needing AF adjustment too badly, it is typically the 5th/5.5 Gens with the screwed up AF.
