What kind of tape is that on the TB neck?

Any other angles of the hood closed? Does it hit when you are driving? How's it feel?

The powerband is much smoother. That is a 2k2 TB. The TPS piece is made out of a piece of sheet metal and aluminum.

It feels like the engine breathes much better, more linear powerband. The tape is there to cover a hole in the piping, which I will fix this summer. So far I haven't noticed it hitting the hood, or hear any sounds of it hitting it. I can get more shots of the hood when I get a chance.

Now I must say that you have the option to SuperCharge with the Stillen Supercharger kit for the G35. Although you will also have to get a different hood to clear the blower. That would be a sick kit if you can afford.

Nice work though ...definetly a thumbs up

Congrats man, looks great. And to think you almost sold that thing to me...

Dyno time.

Now you need the Z33 ECU map to really take advantage, since there is perhaps a small loss in power down low, but that can't be that bad of thing being FWD, 5MT and torque.

one thing I noticed is you still have the 2k2 valve covers. Very cool, when I do this swap, I'll know I can still use the stock valve covers. I'll be doing a cold air intake setup though, with hole in the fender.

Also, would you have a problem with clearance if you get the spacer?

Your setup doesnt look bad, but i'll be willing to have a hump in my hood if I can get that spacer in.

I applaud your effort, I wanna see what it does on the dyno and at a track.

FWD VQ35 with the 350z/G/FX Manifold.

On a side note, I really want someone to buy a EU or SMT with the vq35 and see what a timing advance can do with the motor.

i am going to say his hood wont close if he gets the spacer and why are people making a big deal of the front valve cover. i found mine for $35 shipped on my350z. less problems and no cutting or grinding involved

Yeah I don't think he can get a spacer either. But YOU on the other hand needs to dyno, get a spacer and dyno again.

me on the other hand need to fix my p300 code first.

just by looking that he already cut the support bars out and shaved some of the IM already, even the smallest spacer that motordyne makes wont let the hood close.

no p300 is multiple cylinder missfire

directly from fsm
when a missfire occurs, engine speed will fluctuate. if the engine speed fluctuates enough to cause the CKP signal to vary, ECM can determine that a missfire is occuring.

there are a bunch of possible reasons to why it is happening but the thing is the code showed up after the install of the 350z IM.

Do you just get it when you are running low on fuel? If you are still running without that windage tray in your tank, your fuel pressure can momentarily drop which can cause a misfire.

Air leak would be my first guess then.

Yes but a malfunctioning front O2 sensor can cause your engine to misfire. Is P0300 accompanied by any other codes?

Sorry for the threadjack Nismo3112, I just want to see what Vasily's car dynos at.

no I get it at idle only and it doesnt change if the gas tank is empty or full.

no p300 is the only code stored in the system and it is a pendign code as well.
directly from the fsm
improper spark plug
insufficient compression
incorrect fuel pressure
injector circuit is open or shorted
injectors
intake air leak
ignition secondary circuit is open or shorted
lack of fuel
drive plate or flywheel
heated oxygen sensor 1
incorrect pcv hose connection

Since it just started after you installed the manifold, do you have an air leak?

NISMO3112 - AWESOME JOB!! very cool!! i'm very much looking forward to the dyno/track runs!!!

vasiliy - does your idle fluctuate? i got a multiple misfire when i was running without iacv.. then the motor would start to choke, as rpms would drop (i also got the 0205 code for the iacv not working properly, even though it was plugged in, but disconnected from intake manifold vacuum)

IMHO i'd replace the two front o2 sensors (most maximas have high miles and the sensors get dirty/corroded) with new o2 sensors, the engine would respond better at low rpms and would keep it at stoich. a/f ratio. in the midrange/top-end the o2 sensors are out of the loop. but in daily driving they play a vital role (and better MPG)

too bad the spacer won't fit though...
but the clamshell is still better.

i am postivie i dont have any air leaks because i checked for leaks and used rtv in areas that might be possible to an air leak. next step is new plugs. i know its not the maf or the rear coils cause i swapped those out already from another car. i still have to check the front coils. and yes my idle does fluctuate and it went up to about 700 rpm when i swapped the z injectors. then i took them out and put the maxima injectors back in thinking maybe it was the injectors but the problem was still there. currently i have a set of de-k injectors in there. and if you guys think it might be the o2 sensors, then its headers time.

sorry to be a bit off topic here but you could use the de-k injectors in the 3.5?
