Is it possible to use the 3.5 IM?

Is it possible to use the 3.5's Intake Manifold on a 3.0? If so, is there a reason to go with the 00VI instead of the 2003+ ?

no, it isn't. The bolt holes do not line up at all.

Do the ports line up on the lower manifold? Or is it just the bolt locations?? Anyone have pics ?

The heads are different, hence the lower and upper intake manifold will not work.

The vq35 heads have circular inlet ports
The vq30 heads have oval inlet ports

That would be the reason

thanks tavarish. that kind of makes me sad. i'd like to get an IM, but i'm not sure if i'd be content going w/ the 00vi.

Being that the aligment is off, that's your best option.

It came on 2002 also. The 04+ is slightly different. (LIM) The Z33 IM is better than the Maxima 3.5L piece.. so which are you talking about?

Okay, let me clarify.... I was talking about the 2002-2003 Max specifically. When I was in the parts dept. of my Nissan stealership, I had the guy pull up diagrams of both upper and lower IM for the 3.0 and 3.5, specifically 1997 and 2002.

The interesting part is the part number for the lower manifold gasket--where the LIM meets the cylinder heads is the same (14035, I think, I cant find my print out right now).

So.... doesn't it seem like they should bolt right up? I'm sure someone has tried this or has pics. But the same part numbers got me thinking...

You are confusing part codes with part numbers. 14035 is the part code for the LIM/head gasket. That is only the first 5 digits in the p/n.

Specifically:
07/96-06/01 - 14035-38U01
06/01-end of 03 production - 14035-8J101

The 14035-38U01 is also used on the VQ35 in the 01+ Pathfinder
