00VI Compilation

This isn't another thread to ask questions. Quite the contrary, it's to announce that at the suggestion of another .org member, I'm trying to compile all the information about the 00VI swap that there is (or atleast as much as I can find). The problem with this swap is that what little information there is is scattered all around and even hard to search for if you have the option. So it all needs to be in one spot, that way we won't need to ask as many questions and more people will be willing to do the swap because it won't seem so daunting (or atleast there's hope).

You can find the current progress of the compilation on my website:
http://away.no-ip.org/maxima/

Simply enter the site and click on "00VI Swap" on the menu. Right now there is just a list of goals of the compilation and two smaller pages (which are both in-progress). Bear with me, as doing this is taking forever.

FEEL FREE TO CONTRIBUTE!

I know exactly how you feel Kevlo, remember back when 00vi was new and only a handful had it/knew of it..

Hey Tatanko, i'm glad you are following my advice, i'll throw you some useful info/pics later to help your 00vi collection.

personally, after doing a couple of 3.5 swaps, 00vi is yestaerday's news to me, i'd rather answer advanced, serious, questions about camshafts, sc and 3.5L swap, because there's not much info around, except csb, sorry dude, you got TOO MANY questions.. and most are general, answered in the FSM/3.5 writeup..

there are plenty of knowledgeable people on the .org, if i'll see a dead wrong post i'll correct it and put people on the right track, but i don't spoonfeed info. donate and search, (i think acess to the advanced performance forum, should be only to those who have donated.. there's too many n00bs nowadays who hear of 00vi and 3.5 swap and start posting general questions, wtf) and if there's no results try a different search string, just cause 00vi gives 1xxxx results, doesn't mean there's no way to refine the search.. people make spelling mistakes too..

Thanks. I had this planned before, but you were motivation. Seems like I have lots of people behind me, as well.

Hey Tatanko. I applaud you in what your doing. Along the lines of other members on here it just seems like this setup has been talked about way too much and there is huge amount of information in the All motor forum that talks about the setup. I can speak from my end, which was lots of hours reading before I posted something. No one ever did a stock air intake setup before and I ended up doing one briefly before I got my Stillen pop charger.

There's just some things you have to use ingenuity to figure things out. Than if you feel like it you can post it up or keep it a secret.

To maybe put a period on this subject, anyone considering the 00VI mod needs to first search and research (1) the expected gains, (2) the likely cost range, and (3) the various options he's facing (e.g., which LIM/FR/injectors, TB, EGR, IACV, etc. to go with) and to then make the choices he's decided upon. Once making those decisions, there are even further sub-decisons to make (e.g., if deciding to use the 4th gen LIM, whether to stick with the 6mm thread size or open them up to 8mm). Each level of these decisons involves a lot of pro and con input from various people. Unfortunately, the uninitiated need to sift out the BS opinions from people who don't have any actual experience and are basically repeating (often 3rd-hand) stuff they've picked up on the org from other guys who don't have any first-hand experience themselves.
There are several people on the org who know what they're talking about and have valid experience and knowledge to contribute, but (unfortunately) most of them/us have gotten tired of offering their/our input for guys who are looking for quick, easy answers and aren't willing to do the basic research on their own and think things through for themselves. To those guys, whip out your checkbook and pay someone else to not only do it for you, but to also to decide what to do. Not a good way to go!
The thread links I offered in post #11 are the result of distilling around 3 times as many threads that I bookmarked before narrowing my decision-choices and eliminating the threads not pertinent to my choices.

Curt, building upon what you said, the very first page I made for the compilation has to do with the different choices you can make. I even have interactive menus at the bottom to show each combination based on what you want.

Nice thread to read and know. My 3.5 setup is limited by the 4th gen lower manifold. I guess I'll replace mevi with 00vi if I get the finance opportunities again. But your thread helps a lot to minimize my search. This should be stickied once it's done.

I've updated with a ton more pages in the last couple days. I'd appreciate it if a few people would take a look over the pages that already exist, let me know what you think, and give reccomendations (what should be changed/added/removed, etc.).

you aren't using the 3.5L 2k2 intake manifold?
i guess 4th gen lower with 370cc injectors then? otherwise why not run 3.5 lower and injectors?
