Lightbulb Summit RPM Switch Backorder

For any of you who are waiting for the Summit RPM switch, they are still on back order as they have been for over a month. I was able to get a better price on the MSD 8969, after I haggled with them for a while. Reduced pricing is not an automatic thing for the Summit switch backorder, but haggling with them is worth a try I think.

Just as a heads up I just went thru the same thing. They sent me the MSD equivalent and according to Requin6 and MardiGrasMax it cannot be used on a coil per plug system. So I sent mine back and bought one used. Just FYI they have been back ordered for several months now.

Are you saying the MSD 8969 can't be used on our cars? According to the .pdf instruction manual that I have, the 8969 has both the single coil per cylinder option and pretty much anything in between including the ECU output option.

I just installed the MSD 8969 on my car 2 days ago. If you're considering that, I can answer any questions you might have about it. It's wired up, but my 00VI isn't in yet so I can't confirm it's operational, but Jime used it awhile back for nitrous purposes and it worked great for him.

just because the summit switch is back ordered, doesn't mean it can be had elsewhere for a little more $$$ unless you are super cheapo, then just get a toggle switch, lol!

besides, the dip-switches are awesome, they can be set very accurately. the MSD is ok too, but not the 8950, that one is pure garbage with he plug in module BS. V-afc2 is still the best

What's the primary difference b/w the VAFC-II and the SAFC Neo anyway? They both appear to be able to control the butterfly valve on the 3.5. If that's true, then why not just save the 100 bux and get the VAFC-II?

Nice Tatanko! Looks like you are one step ahead of me on my 00VI install. I have all the electrical pulled and ready to wire up, just need the switch and then comes the fun part....the physical install.

Oh, you are talking about the Digital window switch....I thought you were talking about the MSD rpm switch they they recomend when the Summit switch is out of stock. I don't know the part number but its not a digital switch. Sorry if I gave bad info. I thought you were talking about the product that they claim is a direct replacement.

Yeah I just have the 12v wire and activation wire from the switch (ground) sitting in the engine bay waiting for something to activate. I still need to order a CAI off eBay (I'm basically running stock intake right now, and that isn't gonna work), a rear valve cover, and the lower manifold -> heads gaskets. I'm also waiting on my buddy's dad to finish up my adapter plates.

Good luck with the CAI lining up properly in the fender well with the VI compared to the stock mani. The position & angle isn't the same on the VI mani & I had to resort to a short ram when I tried. Would still like to know how others have done it without relocating the battery.

Also not sure what the differnce was between the VAFC & the VAFC2 as far as activating the VI. I originally had the VAFC & it would not activate the VI so I went with the VAFC2. Hope that MSD works for you guys.

As far as the CAI, I just bought a section of 3" .065 wall 304L stainless tube and plan to make my own mid pipe. Not sure what else would work.

as far as the CAI, I planned on purchasing it with the intent to run a short ram until I either get another short 45 degree 3" pipe or a second accordian section, either way.

All you need to make a CAI or HAI work with the VI is to use the factory accordian piece in place of the silicone coupler on the TB, case closed..

how did you get the wire to go from the cabin to the engine bay?

There's a grommet on the firewall in the passenger's side footwell. You really have to get your head into the top of the footwell to see it, and I'm only able to see it now because my buddy discovered it from the engine bay and we poked a hangar through it. Interestingly enough I don't think any wires normally go through it, it's just kind of there It does need to be "torn" open though as it's solid. Look for it from the engine bay first or you'll never find it.

I ran my wires through the grommet above the driver side door harness and up through the opening just below the drivers side hood hinge. It was very easy.

Is that an ebay CAI or did you hack it? The section running into the fenderwell looks shorter than most.

very clean btw

The summit has been on backorder at least since may when i tried to order one. I found www.bakerelectronix.com and ordered their ARWS window switch, just $45. Its compact, has 8 settings on dip switches and has been reliable since install. They were good with the customer service too, got it quickly and it had complete instructions.
