How to remove Valves and valve springs.

Needing to remove the valves and valve springs from my 3.0 (spare). I'm mainly curious if there is an alternative method besides the one outlined in the FSM (soak in 130degree oil and strike with a punch).

I really just need to dis-assemble, it wont be put back together and parts wont be re-used, if that helps spark any creative ideas

The soaking thing is only if you want to remove the valve guides. To remove the valves just remove the lifter, get a spring compressor and compress the valve spring, remove the collets (locks) and relieve the tension SLOWLY. You can then remove the retainer and spring and the valve will slide right out. That long pin goes into the recessed area on the face of the valve and the other side grabs onto the spring.

This is the one i have. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...seBVCookie=Yes
