Its my understanding that injectors will not click without adaquate fuel pressure.

Well I plugged the fuel pump back again and played with the front crank REF sensor. Ran out of time before it started raining (again!!!!!) but the position I had it in seemed pretty good to me.

I'm having exactly the same symptoms that Fred had throughout his thread (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=415913). Pins 67, 72, 80 and 24 see 12V+ on the "ON" and "START" positions, pin 20 (Start Signal) sees 12V+ only on "START", all grounds are grounded (verified at the ECU plug itself) and I'm getting a no spark no fuel condition. Voltage was verified to the coils and injectors. All three sensors were tested and are good (and why wouldn't they be, all three worked fine all of last year in the max).

This obviously points to misaligned crank REF/crank POS sensors although so far everything has proved pointless.

UPDATE:

When we tested my ECU just over a month ago (when I bought the Walbro) it was good and ran fine in my bro's car. Now I threw it in the maxima for the heck of it and no matter how long I crank it, zero, nada. The tach needle sits there at 0. No fluttering. No signs of life nothing.

The second I throw his ECU (96 auto) in the max, it starts right up. So my ECU is fried, for some inexplicable damn reason. Not sure exactly when it went bad - before or after all the harness back and forth - but now it's useless.

I did throw his 96 ECU in the 240 for the heck of it, didn't start but that doesn't mean it's not something minor at this point.

Your post is confusing. The last two paragraphs contradict each other. Which is it?

They don't. His car fired up like normal and mine didn't, with either ECU, but now at least we know that my ECU is bad.

Yeah there's always been some corrosion (well light rust) on the ECU, but it worked fine up until now. Guess it got to it...

Sucks man. Good to find the problem though. I need a new ECU as well. For some reason my tach signal stopped working. I ripped the covers off to check voltage at the board to confirm it isn't the pin. Nothing from pin 5.

Anyone have a good ECU for sale? If not it's back to junkyard hunting.

Right now it doesn't look good. I'm probably gonna have to replace the fuel and brake lines and that stock tank is a real POS. Plus I have one CV booth done on the passenger side axle. Not to mention basically having to fab a temporary intake, a temporary hood and a temporary exhaust system (no x-pipe and the ****ty aftermarket system that came with the car) only until next spring. I would also need to buy another ECU just temporarily vs the possibility of Megasquirt (or E-manage Ultimate) for next year.

I might have a deal on a beater (91 B13 Sentra) so right now I'm contemplating tearing the car down and doing everything I wanted to do this the winter, and be ready to race in April. It's probably the best thing to do but I really wanted to get some raw, street tire runs & MPH before the winter.

If I go that way I'm definately shoving the engine in the dash.

Hows the winter project going man?

I've got mine all ripped down. For the past week I've been spending two to three hours a day prepping for and then actually doing the seam welding. Rear half of chassis is done. Front half here I come.

For those that I haven't told. My S13 now clicks in at 2060lbs.

Well I had a stupid altercation with a junkyard guy yesterday. On the phone I explained to him about 8 or 9 times that I needed the 6 throttle bodies from a 97ish M3. I mean I can't stress how CLEARLY I explainedit to him. Gave him my number and he called me back after he verified that he had an equivalent with 6 TB's in another 1997 BMW model. So I went down there and he gives me a single TB. At this point I just looked at him like I was going to kill him (because of a long history of such crap in many other junkyards) and he says "that's the part we talked about" in a deadpan, nothing's-is-wrong way. I should have spat a "F*** you" and left, but I just left. What a waste of time. Stuff like this plays guitar with my nerves.

Haha, Im very sorry to hear that.

The nearest salvage yard where I live is 30miles west of here and is operated by a 60 year old lady. She is straight up nasty. If you call for a part, the answer is "possibly". I explain to her every time that I don't want to drive 30miles on a gamble and every time she replies with "Well I'm very busy, just come look...*click*."

Once I was pulling a transmission for a friends Avenger with him. The price was agreed at $150 when we began pulling the transmission. Once we got it pulled we went back to the office to have a forklift come pick it up and the price was then $250. I was ready to rip her face off.

You guys need to stay away from salvage yards like that, nothing but problems. Stick to the big yards who know how to run a business. Basically, if the office isn't clean don't expect good service.

Yeah. If the only chairs available in the waiting room are rear seats from a 1988 caravan, get the hell out of there.
