01 MAF in 4th gen?

Hey, I have a question, to get a bit more air volume in the intake path, i've decided to use my spare 01 MAF with a 3" pipe, just like SR20DEN. Problem is, the wiring isn't the same for the 4th gen. The 4th gen has a 3 wire MAF and the 5th gen has a 4-wire maf.

I've noticed that the voltages for both MAF's are almost the same (fluctuate between .1 and .2V on the extremes)

I have both the 01 and 98 FSM's, and i've looked through them, and it seems pretty straightforward, to just splice the wires, but one wire is left over.

What can I do with that one wire?

I'm planning on getting an EU soon, so tuning won't be a problem. My car runs rich as it is.

Thanks,
-Freddy

Sure its not an extra ground ?? Like the Z32 MAF has two grounds on it.

If its not used for sure, just tape it up and leave it.

it might be, in the fsm is has no label, and it just connects in series to 2 ECU connectors.

Tape it up and leave it. Run the car and its runs ****y and shoots a code out, try grounding it. I know on the Z32 maf you need to bring the two grounds to two different places to avoid noise in the lines, but JWT sais just use one ground...lol. My car ran funky like that.

Why not just get a Z32 MAF and be done with it ?? I heard the 5th gen MAF's are really fragile, but thats boost related.

cause i have a 01 maf at my disposal, and i'm not gonna max out the maf anytime soon. Not N/A anyway.

And BTW, I think the extra wire (r/g) is a power wire.
