Greddy E-manage Ultimate Installation Write-Up

Guys,

I finally have it all done, the installation write-up, I mean.
I have yet a chance to really mess with the fuel maps but other than that, the install is done with no problems.

The software is new to me, so I will not document anything on the software setup. This write-up is for installation of the wires only. I tried to be as technical as I can be, but I can't snap too many pictures as the file will get too large and my email server won't hold that for me to host them. Enjoy tuning your cars...

Thanks, I've parked the car down on the lot after the hardware install, I'm spending the weekend over at my gf's. So I won't be updating anything till Monday. I'll send you more pictures when I return home. I've got a few more pictures of the connectors installed on the ECU side. But I exluded all that in my write up. I will sure send a few more pictures on Monday. Again, thanks for the welcoming assistance.

Thank You SO MUCH GodFather, Excellent Job, this will Definitely help MANY .orgers who already HAVE the EU, but did not INSTALL one because of the software update/wiring issues/figuring out resistors to use.

Now anybody who has the EU can try to install it themselves, or take your writeup to somebody who knows electronics and maximas to install it for them.

now if anybody can just host the version 2.00 software (that was leaked for a very short time on mohdparts), that would be the only other thing needed for a sucessful EU install with almost all features.

Once Again BIG THANKS!!!

Thanks vipervadim. I also would like to receive criticism over my write-up. As I said, right after I installed it, I only have enough time to compose this write up before I had to leave for the weekend. So there could be a few more mistakes along the way. If you guys find something doubtful on my write-up, expecially my wiring diagrams, please let me know asap, I'll fix everything when I return home Monday.

FIgures you'd get done with a write up before I finished. I'm just too busy, but I am halfway through one at least. Must be nice to be a student and have time to do these things... then again, I'm done with that and don't want to go back to school really..

I'll take a look through your write up when I get a chance. It'll be a few days yet before I can finish mine.

Thanks Dan, as I said, no matter who's finished the write up first. This EU install is still your fame to claim. Without your initiative efforts to make this possible, I would never run in and do an install such as this. I'm pretty much walking in your tracks about this write-up.

As for having time while I'm a student, hehehe, I finished all the tests this past Tuesday, and we have a Fall Break starting on Thursday, so I've been pretty free through the week, and I did the EU wiring and write up at the same time at work, in the LSU computing services. That's where I could get lots of electrical engineering help from those guys. It's a firm way to do my project when all these guys are behind me.

When your write-up gets done, please publish it over the org, different people have different perspectives, maybe yours and mine will differ much and compensate for those whom like a different write-up.

Again, Thanks for your tremendous help, Dan. I really appreciate it.

Luke, I do have the 2.0 software, but I am afraid that no one is supposed to initiate a publicized download of it. So I dont' think it's such a good idea to put it over the org, yet. It's Greddy's proprietary policies that none of it gets out, yet. So we must respect that.

Mdeezy, thanks for the compliment. I tried my best.

No worries, I don't mind that you got around to finishing yours first. I would have finished one a long time ago but just too many things on the go. I had intended to do a 00VI write-up last year too but obviously never got to it. lol. I had a hard enough time just trying to get all the crap done on my own car to get out to the track. When I finish mine I'll post it up here too.

But as for the whole EU thing, well I didn't really have any motive other than to find a better tuning solution for my car because at the time it was JWT or TS and that was it, and I was looking for something better, and those choices weren't good enough for someone like me who likes to have control over their own setup and be able to change the tune as I change the setup.

But If I've managed to help out the community with it along the way well then I'm happy to have been able to. I certainly think the EU is the best tuning option for us right now.

adobe acrabat reader, it reads .pdf files. You would have to go to this website: www.adobe.com and find adobe acrobat reader 7.0 i think.

I'm not here to make money, lol. Besides, it's not that feasible. I don't want to invest in the first place. I just want to concentrate in school and get the heck out asap. LOL

Thanks for the idea, though. You're an entrepaneur.

However, if you guys are really stuck with the harness, you can buy them and send them over, along with the needed harness adaptors. You will be stuck with having to cut the wires off your ECU and do it your selves anyways, so if and when I help, I'm only getting it done half way. Doing the ECU wires is actually pretty crappy because there's barely room and coomfort to handle those wires. Let me know if you really need help. I'll do my best.

That's debatable, but upon doing mine, I found my MAF signal wire to have been redone with a different color, it's white after all, and my TPS isn't the correct color either. I wouldn't know what the previous owner of the car did, but the car was in perfect running condition when I bought it.

As far as the location of those wires on the ECU pin-out chart, they are 100% accurate on my car, and mine's a 95.

Dont take my word for it, but I can be pretty sure to go to those locations exactly, and you'll hit bullseye. Good luck.

I will try to update a few more pictures for the pdf document. I will aslo add on a few comments on the wiring of the ECU side of the install. I had to go back tonight to make some extensions on some wires because they are a tad bit short for my psych. I hope everyone to do the same. So I'll pertain to change that tomorrow afternoon. Sorry Luke, I found some detailing erros in my typing, I would need to send you an updated doc for you to replace. don't just add or subtrac pages this time, there are structural typo's I made and I would like to correct those.

Yeah, sorry, I've been very busy with work and school this week. My ignition coils are tested bad today, so I'm stuck with no progress for the time being. I will try to get something up this weekend.

Luke,

I'm pretty effing pi$$ed right now. I stored all the pictures, illustrations, and documents in the same usb jump drive. But apparently, some ****'s in my computer decided to steal my jump drive. So, I lost all the files that I was supposed use to update my write-up. I'm just pretty pi$$ed right now, so until my next impulse, I probably won't do an update just yet.

The 3.5 motor has nothing to do with it. The EU will work with the 3.0 ECU as long as you have the latest update.

Yes, Nismology is right. You should use the latest version of the EU software, and everything will work.

For the wiring harness connectors that I ordered from digikey in the write-up, you can simply go to Autozone and get 4 sets of 12-male and 12-female connector plugs. I forgot the name of it, but it's not hard to find. Those are easier and more robust to work with.

This is the part that almost scares me away from attempting an EU install... anyone have any tips on how to make it tolerable? I've poked around down there are there seems to be minimal access unless you're a contortionist. How do you EU guys do all that wiring down there? Take out the ECU connector and remove some harness clips so it comes out a little farther? Or just tap them in place where they make the last turn into the connector/ECU?

BTW AWESOME writeup, thanks!

Bingo... and yes you can keep them fairly close to the ECU connector too..
