Lapping valves and clearances
I was talking to a mechanic about it and he said that i might have to adjust the valve clearance after lapping since the valves will be sitting ever-so-slightly closer to the lifter. Has anyone here lapped their valves and measured the clearance afterward? Thanks in advance.

I measured the clearance on all my valves (VQ35) after lapping and they were all well within factory spec with the original lifters.
Valve lapping compound is pretty fine grit and you are only using light hand pressure unless your valve faces/seats are severely pitted. IMO the material generally removed is of the magnitude 0.0001".
The clearance spec allows a .003"/.004" tolerance so unless you were at the extreme end to begin with, there should not be a problem.
If you are going through all the trouble of rebuilding your heads, you should be checking your valve clearance anyways. Who is to say it was within spec when it left the factory?
