Rear o2 sensors necessary on 02 vq35?

Hello,
Probably something I should already know but, how does the 02 ECU react if you don't have rear o2 sensors installed? Just a check eng. light or real trouble?

Thanks
Fred

02+ Maximas are cali spec so they require 2 secondary o2 sensors that monitor the function of the cats.

Right, but what does it do if they aren't hooked up? Does it hurt engine performance (limp mode, etc.) or does it simply light the CEL to tell you you have a problem?

thanks
Fred

All you get are rear O2 codes, it doesn't go into limp or anything. Nothing an O2 sim and some resistors can't fix (both the signal voltage from the O2s and the heater circuit resistance have to be simulated).
