Exclamation motor ????

i have a 96 nissan maxima se and im looking for a motor because my motor is gone....which motor would be better????
a complete 00-01 nissan maxima engine or a 95-98 nissan maxima engine with 00vi???? what would be a stronger motor?????
what would the difference be between both engines????

i personally dont know accurately the answer to this question, but id go with the 00-01 motor due to less miles on it. it has the 00VI already installed, with the 95-98 with an 00VI would basically be the same thing as the 00-01 but with more wear and tear. This is from the limited knowledge i have on the subject and am not 100% sure on the info, but i hope this helps.

i would say the say thing. to purchase a de-k vs pre 2000 + VI might not be worth it.

however, maybe you should save your 4th gen coils... 5th gen always goes bad, its just a matter of time. some new replacements go bad too.... this alone will cost a couple of hundred. i dont have a good answer. maybe some other 4th genner will know better.

guess we all take a chance when buying an engine from the wreckers. how do you know what condition either of the engines would be in ?

So on one hand you have the vq30de-k swap. And on the other hand you have a vq30de + 00VI swap. As for as, price you would have to compare what you can get a de-k for, versus what you can get a vq30de for, plus the cost of doing the 00VI swap. Along with the 00VI swap there are different options you can take with the install.

I dont know much either, examples: ecu issues: do you use 4th or 5th gen ecu

Differences: I have read the de-k has better exhaust cams, but just how much better I dont know.

good luck with it

Go with the de-k(00-01). Most likely it will save you money, and have less miles. and you would use your 4th gen ecu. there are write ups some where, if you cant find one AFTER LOOKING, pm me and I will make one..again. You can do some fun things while at the motor swap..like: new cams, flywheel, headers..stuff that will be pretty sweet!

I would get a dek as I did. You going to pay about 400 for the oovi parts or you can get a newer lower milage dek altogether for about 500-650

needed parts
1. vq30dek
2. IACV plate
3. RPM switch

sensors from de to dek
1. bell housing
2. cam position
3. throttle position sensor
4. coolant log sensor

extra work
1. jb weld swirl valves (maybe)
2. swap evap system
3. rewire fuel injectors

i heard that you should swap all of the sensors from the de to the dek is that true??? ohh does anyone know the part numbers for the updated 5th gen coil packs???
