Does anyone know if the gear on the 3.0 water pump is interchangeable with the 3.5 water pump?? Me and my brother are doing the swap and i'm currently at work, so he told me to ask around.

The reason for this question is because my 3.0 had been leaving very small drops of coolant and I checked all hoses, radiator, etc.. and everything looked good. It was also leaking around the timing area... so I'm assuming it was the water pump.

If I can, i'll change out the gear and use the 3.5 water pump rather than by one... the 3.5 water pump only has 25000 miles on it.

 

The gear is made onto the pump, get a new one, its cheap insurance and much easier to do now. $50 will get you one at most part stores.

 

Go to autozone and ask to see thier HUB prices, it'll be like 5-30 bucks cheaper

This applies to any hardpart that's stocked at the hub

the gear on the 3.5 is different than the 3.0. If memory serves the teeth are much closer on the 3.5 than the 3.0
