question

Newbie question i searched but am really in need of opinions and expereince. I'm curious if i should swap the 3.5 in my max or just install another 3.0 I would love to turbo both motors. But i also am looking into the fact of possible emmissions coming back to FL and i dont wish to fail. So i dont want any issues w/ CEL codes, bad tunes (stock 3.0 ECU on a 3.5), also am curious to know what ecu's or piggys are you guys using? I appreciate any help you may provide.

There's no way you searched for more than 3 seconds if you're asking these questions man...

in short. what ever setup you want, it can be done, has been done, and there are stickies about getting it done.

the decision is up to you.

Well if i invested the $20 to become a member the search would be more specific; however, due to lack of funds i'm unable. I just put my last 30 bucks in my gas tank. So i appologize that i didnt invest and get a more specific search engine out of this forum.

Well my fear is doing this swap, running into engine codes and emissions issues and having to fail the car. I've heard read some issues w/ it but havent seen any follow ups of solutions so thats just my worry.

Um ... you put your last $30 in the tank and want to do a 3.5 swap?

not to mention a turbo setup since you say that's what you 'want' to do.

Figure out what you need to do first...a VQ35 swap isn't free..

at this point there is so much information out there, that you dont need to dontate but its highly recommended you can find very specific threads to answer your questions.

I hope you noticed the stickes at the top of this thread. start there, and start saving. Hopfully by the time you have the money saved you'll be ready for the swap.

Oh thats what i'm currently doing. I've actually picked up a second job to help w/ some of my bills and start funding for this project. I really want to have a fast yet still reliable maxima (not stock reliable but something that isnt in the shop all the time).

Yea and w/ gas at 3.00 a gallon sh*t sucks.

I'm not intending to do all the work at the same time it will be a timely process. I just dont wish to run into issues. I've noticed that some guys have issues w/ swapping the motor. Like cam issues if they us the 3.0 cams. So i'm guess the 3.5 cams w/ the spacer. But my question do you still use the 3.5 chain and cam gears? But i guess i'll figure the rest out once i aquire the motor.

thanks for the help.
