VTC Solenoid Blockoff plates (pics)
Based on my limited understanding of the intake VTC solenoids, here is what I think (someone feel free to correct me if I'm heading down the wrong path).
3.5 tensioners receive oil through the oil port on the bottom of the tensioner which maintains the piston and spring tension and additional oil is routed through the top port (#2 in pics) into the intake valve timing control solenoids. excess oil then drains back down into the first intake cam bearing area (#1 in pics) and also down into the timing case and head (#3 in pics). One of my solenoids was damaged and I don't intend to use VTC on the 3.5 swap so I made a couple of block off plates to keep oil pressure up and keep oil from spewing through the open ports.
If I remember correctly, Broaner welded the top port of the tensioner closed and reported good oil pressure and no problems.
Should I have any concerns about all the ports on the saddles being blocked?
