Immobilizer question for 3.5 swap

Searched. I'm doing a full 3.5 ECU/harness/etc swap so of course I'll need the ignition switch with immobilizer. But, I'd really prefer to keep the switch I have now so that I can have a new key cut to match my car (and programmed to match the ECU of course).

I've haven't seen a good pic of the immobilizer setup, but I have seen the immobilizer sold independently of the ignition switch on some sites. My question is this: can I buy the immobilizer and just attach it to my current ignition switch? Will it come with the necessary wiring parts? Looking at some pics it looks like just a ring and a sensor, but I can't tell for sure.

The ignition switch and immobilizer system are completely seperate. All that matters is that the NATS IMMU needs to have a programmed key in very close proximity to it, wherever you decide to mount it.

Yes, you can buy it seperately and mount it anywhere but it won't come with any wiring.

you should get it from the same car you got your ecu from, and then just attatch the key/chip under the steering wheel/dash somewhere close to the unit.

Thank you very much!

In case you can't get your hands on the proper wiring harness, the NATS IMMU only has 5 wire connections. Constant (15A fused) battery power, Ignition switch On or Start switched (15A fused) battery power, output to Security indicator LED, output to ECU, and ground. Pretty simple to wire up.

hmmm, is there nothing coming off the dash harness that connects to it? I figured the dash harness would have the connection for it. I have a complete harness I'm going to cut and work with.

i believe in the immo cars that there is a 5-pin connector which supplies those 5 wires.

Yes the main (dash) harness has a connector for it. Good deal.
