Need a bit of info: "6 speed - Hlsd" Maxima ?
Need a bit of info: "6 speed - Hlsd" Maxima ?
Beyond the A32 I dont know much about the newer models. I do know we had a 6 speed option in the later models, but I have always heard the term VLSD when concerning factory LSD with our maximas.
Is there a 6 speed - with (Helical) HLSD option, if so what year is that ?

If you wanted to go through like I did I got a spec v tranny all of them have it(HLSD) and can be bought for much cheaper than maxima tranny all you need to add is a maxima bell housing with could be bought for like 238 new
from what i understand (not sure though so correct me if i'm wrong)
spec-v: weaker(although there are spec-vs with vq35s and stock trannys), closer ratios, shorter gearing meaning higher engine speeds when cruising...
A33-34 6sp: stronger and taller gearing, more befitting for a max with a 35 swap

There is no strength difference between the maxima and spec-v 6-speeds. As far as gear ratios go, they are all the same except that the spec-v 6th gear is shorter. The early spec v's had an extremely short final drive, while the later ones had the same as the A34's.
what nismology said. 2002 spec v's have the 4.4 fd. however, i thought that was the only difference between the spec v and the a33 tranny.
in any case, those tranny's are strong. my friend w/ the spec v said that vq35 swapped and turboed sentras do not have much problems with the transmissions. and all come with hlsd. if you do a swap, you can get a spec v tranny for about 300 bucks.
but make sure you know, 2002 spec v cruises around 3000 ish rpm at 80mph. 2003 and up is taller.
correct me if im wrong.

It's essentially the same transmission in the ways that matter.
Don't let the low pricetag on the Spec-V tranny fool you though. You still have to source a VQ bellhousing, shifter and cables (the most expensive components, typically), 6-speed clutch/flywheel, axles, mount and bracket, starter, slave cylinder, and all associated hardware.

probly from the dealership, not from junkyards. my guess is a higher % of spec-v's get wrecked than 6spd max's, plus more are around to start with. high supply=low price, since they dont know that they are all mostly the same
EDIT: i see an 04 for 250..., 9 pages of those tran's on car-part.com, a total of 3 04-06 max HLSD 6spds

To do it properly, all your bearing end-play/preloads need to be measured and the correct shims installed.
Most people would not have the measuring tools necessary to do this accurately enough.
So if you cannot do it yourself, then be sure to factor in the cost of a transmission shop to do it for you.

The VSS mounts in the clutch housing, not in the transmission case. A33B and A34 share the same clutch housing (30400-8H810) There is a provision for mounting the VSS on it and the final drive has a speedometer gear on it. I have one sitting in my garage if you would like a picture.
I bought my Spec V transmission for $450shipped, my CLUTCH housing lol for roughly $250shipped, so that's $700 and I still need to install them; if you can take the transmissions apart it'll probably lessen the cost of having a shop put them back together, but figure maybe another $200 give or take, depending on the shop. So roughly $900 for a 6-speed HLSD. And this doesn't include the motor mount, cables, shifter, axles, etc.
