Vq35de Emanage Ultimate ?

Has any 5.5 guys hooked up or have any info on installing an emanage ultimate. Ive seen this emanage http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Gredd...spagenameZWDVW harness on ebay, and was wondering if they make one for us. It says VQ35 but im pretty sure they were made for the 350z's...

That patch harness will only work with Z33/G35/A34 ECU's. Contact eng92. He has an EU installed with his A33B ECU.

To the original poster, make sure you get Greddy's #2 injector adapter. If not, the engine will run rich even when no corrections are made. If you don't feel like spending $19 ( ) I suppose you could tune it out manually. I'd prefer not to, personally.

To the best of my knowledge, Jime and myself are the only ones that have installed an EU in conjunction with an A33B ecu. Both of our experiences have been less than stellar.

Jime ran last season with the EU on top of the A32 ecu and had no problems that I am aware of. This season he switched to the A33B ecu and he experienced several ignition related issues. Most notably were a few burnt coils and severe timing spikes in the data logs. He has since pulled his EU and is now running a UTEC.

My experience has been somewhat similar but I believe there is a hardware problem with my particular EU unit. I have an issue with spikes in the timing data logs but that only occurs with f/w >= 2.00. I have no problems with 1.14.

I did not have any problems last year with melting coils but this year I have lost 4. The first one was several months ago and coincidentally occured right after doing a f/w update. The next three were about two months ago and happened all on the same cylinder (#1) within a period of three days. After replacing a coil, I would get about 20-25 minutes of engine run time before the misfiring would start. After the second one went on #1 cylinder, I turned off the ignition maps before replacing the coil. Sure enough 20 minutes later, the misfiring started again. At that point, I just cut the two wires going to the EU for #1 cylinder and taped them together. It has been two months now and I have not lost any more coils.

It is out of warranty now, so my EU is essentially an AFC with a really nice data logger.

I am not saying there is any correlation here but I sure hope you have better luck than we did.

Pretty sure it's a lot more than 5 by now, judging by the PM's/emails I get from various people installing them...

I was wondering if you were ever gonna get around to testing the EB timing advance theory.

Haha yeah, well I didn't forget about it; it kind of turned into a long crazy story. I couldn't do it the day of the install because he didn't have the cable. So then he came back a couple weeks later with a cable, which didn't work as it was the wrong one. So, he ordered and got the right cable, and yet a couple weeks later we connected to the EB. Well the cable worked but the guy who tuned it for him had put a password on the file, and he didn't know it, and we couldn't get hold of the tuner, so there went another try. And since he has to drive about an hour to get here we finally said we'll just wait to meet up later on once my car became driveable or at the first opportunity at the track or whatever.

So now finally maybe we'll get it done in the next week to two, seeing as my car now drives.

How do you arrive at that conclusion? Did you read the posts following the one you quoted??

Besides the EU, there are a lot of people running SAFC, EB, VAFC, NEO etc which are not as capable but still provide some level of "tuning." And still others have aftermarket-programmed ECU's like JWT or Technosquare.

I meant like full standalone units like the emanage ultimate and utec.
Sorry for the confusion

The EU and UTEC are not standalones. They piggyback off of the stock ECU. Furthermore, you can "tune" (somewhat) just fine without having to go to the extent of using units like the UTEC or EU like DandyMax already said although others aren't as capable.

Those two aren't full stand-alones, AFAIK. They are still piggybacks.

Well if you're talking about full standalones then yes, only 1 or 2 guys have done that. But they're expensive and take a lot of knowledge to program the car from scratch, plus you have to think about emissions requirements and all the extra equipment you may need to control besides just the basic fuel and timing of the engine, so it's no surprise most haven't gone that route.

The EU and UTEC are not full standalones though. More like advanced piggybacks. The UTEC being a bit closer to standalone in that it can operate in that mode - during WOT only though, not at all times.

Edit: haha y'all jumped in to say the same thing

If by a base map you mean allowing the car to run as before like stock without any changes, then yes that applies for any vehicle.

Doesn't "base map" usually refer to a MAP that's preloaded onto a standalone EMS so it will at least start up and run?

The EU doesn't come with anything preloaded onto it so technically there is no base map. Upon installation it won't make any changes and will leave the stock ECU to its own devices until you tell it otherwise.

(Not to you Dan.. )

Yeah that's what I usually think of as a base map, but given the previous posts I read between the lines and answered accordingly.

There's no coil problem with the A32 ECU's as far as I know. It's still a bit of a mystery why Jime and eng92 had problems on the A33B.

Well I have been looking more into getting an emanage for my max.
I found out that there is a version E out now that has alot of the bugs fixed that existed on the first version.
Question though is the cold start harness needed or is that optional?

What are the basic requirments/equipment need to tune the VQ30s and the VQ35(4.5) on the E-Manage. From what I'm gathering... I want somewhat follow dandymax's setup (most of his mods are similar to mind, except for the tuning), but eventually I will be running the 3.5 block off the stock 96 (a32) ECU. I've been lurking around on ebay... looking for the E-Manage. So far I know that I will need the;

Greddy E-Manage (Blue)

I see that one of the sellers has optional components: (what is it, that I need from this list to have my car running/tuned correctly?

15500500 GREDDY E-MANAGE MAIN UNIT INCLUDED

15900901 GREDDY E-MANAGE INJECTION HARNESS (FOR MAIN AND SUB 2X INJ CONTROL) OPTIONAL

15900902 GREDDY E-MANAGE IGNITION HARNESS (FOR IGNITION TIMING CONTROL) OPTIONAL

16401301 GREDDY PRESSURE SENSOR (3.0KG/CM2, SECONDARY MAP SENSOR) OPTIONAL

16401406 GREDDY PRESSURE SENSOR HARNESS (USE WITH 16401301) OPTIONAL

15900543 GREDDY E-01/E-MANAGE PRESSURE HARNESS (E-MANAGE READS E-01 PRESSURE SENSOR) OPTIONAL

15900903 GREDDY KNOCK SENSOR ADAPTER 1 (PREVENTS PREMATURE KNOCK SIGNAL) OPTIONAL

15900904 GREDDY RPM SIGNAL ADAPTER 1 (6 CYLINDERS RPM ADAPTER) OPTIONAL

15900905 GREDDY RPM SIGNAL ADAPTER 2 (4 CYLINDERS RPM ADAPTER) OPTIONAL

15900909 GREDDY RPM SIGNAL ADAPTER 3 (RX-8 RPM ADAPTER) OPTIONAL

15900906 GREDDY IGNITION SIGNAL ADAPTER 1 (6 CYLINDER IGNITION ADAPTER) OPTIONAL

15900907 GREDDY IGNITION SIGNAL ADAPTER 2 (4 CYLINDER IGNITION ADAPTER) OPTIONAL

15900908 GREDDY O2 SENSOR ADAPTER (RESIST O2 FEEDBACK FOR WOT) OPTIONAL

15900910 GREDDY NVCS ADAPTER (USED TO CONTROL NISSAN NVCS VALVE TIMING) OPTIONAL

15901001 GREDDY E-MANAGE SUPPORT TOOL (PROGRAM CD) OPTIONAL

Some of you big gear heads... know this stuff like the back of your hand, but even after reading all the threads, I still need to ask questions, and totally understand what is said.

I have EU Installed on my car. We completely wired it up with solder and tape. We believe my EU is defective but we have been running on default settings for 2 months with no problems. My EU Is telling me I have ignition problems, but as Greddy told me, it would not physically move (Vehicle) if this error was accurate. Again we not tuned at all with it (Have to wait for my Wideband connection) Either way, there is no harness you can buy, it must all be done by hand.
