vafc2 questions

Well I noticed alot of the vafc threads were taken out of the stickies and I was just reading them a week ago too.
I wired up the vafc and it seems to be 100 or more rpm off from the tach. is this normal? is the vafc more accurate or is my wire tap not good enough. I soldered all the wires except the maf ones.

my second question is : how do i set the rpm for the intake manifold valve. i wired up the power to the pink wire and ground the ground.

thats all i can think of for now. thanks.

On most 5th Gens, the tachs are off, and by varying amounts. I'd trust the VAFC reading over the tach, assuming your install is all good. I can't remember anymore, but IIRC my tach went to 6800 while the VAFC-II showed ~6600.

VQ35 VIAS cannot be operated correctly using the VAFC since it is a '2' stage. Try and do a peak hold in nuetral ands ee what the value is (fuel cut/revlimit).

Would it work the same as an rpm switch worked it? I did the rev limit check earlier and if I remember correctly I think it was 6617...ill check again.

Read this, and you'll see why:
http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...7&postcount=13

As far as the peak hold is concerned, looks like you're right on.

ah...thanks man. but.....damn.....So i was running it wrong with my RPM switch the whole time too.

there's no way around this is there? I am prepping another intake manifold with the "SSIM" but as we all know there isnt any factual info out there showing a gain with that set up...I wonder how much power I've been missing out on by having it open throughout the whole powerband or most of it.

Unless you have an extended rev limiter, I wouldn't mess with the IM (gutting).

Im getting there, lol. Trying to get that money for the EU, but things (expenses) keep poppin up, lol. I want to see how close I can get to Matt's dyno record with the 3.0 ECU and timing equipment (of course on stock internals for a fair comparison).

So far I think Im doing a pretty good job at documenting my mods with dynos.

Atleast you have a 3.5 I'm stuck with my still-not-tuned 3.0 with nothing but a few bolt-ons

lol tatanko shut up.

95blkmax- what have you done about your intake manifold valve? I have to get a wideband 02 before I tune but if I can't even get the elementary **** straight like restrictions in the intake manifold then I feel like I'm taking steps backwards here.

Tatanko- I was there at one point too meng, it wasnt easy (and it wasnt cheap, lol but little by little you move up). Untuned with P&P upper and lower IM (USIM btw), ypipe, gutted cat, UDP and hacked airbox, I put down 184whp/187wtq (new KS of course). Then once SAFC1 tuned (with the same mods) I put down 191whp/195wtq.

chillin014- What IM valve? That bish be gone along with the deck that it seals against lol

Impressive numbers. You're a 5-speed though I'll be lucky to put down those numbers with my auto, with an 00VI.

u can wire that vtec switch to a lil buzzer to start making a high pitch buzz in the background right as the SSIM comes to life.... tell them, its the N button (for Nismo, like the M5s have the M button for M-Power, LOL). They'll be like OOOOOH SHHHHHHH*T!!!! THAT N BUTTON IS CRAZY!!!!!

alright i got it on. I was really worried about tiny metal shavings still being in there...i mean i cleaned it out real real good but its not like you can get every spec...

anyway...my idle increased up to like 11~k rpm and i had to adjust with the throttle stop screw to bring it down to like high 700's. The TPS voltage is now down to .19 volts at idle and the usual 3.7 WOT...i'm gonna try to put the pathfinder TPS on there for ****s and giggles. My idling issue could be due to the fact that i have a really ghetto plate holding the PF TB to the intake manifold and the large hold does not line up very well at all with either the intake manifold OR throttle body. I'll buy one from stephen when i get the money.
