SSIM/vias removal- pros and cons.

I searched and didnt find some answers. I understand the pro is a lot more top end but you sacrifice low end which sum say it is worth it. How does it affect your idle, or gas mileage. Post your experience with it.

There's a midrange loss, not low end so much. Idle quality is unaffected.

What rpm top end do you start to feel it? What else do you have done? I only have an intake that sits behind the battery. I gotta install my nwmp intake spacers and probly get the technosquare ecu for the raised revlimiter to get the extra top end. I have an afc neo collecting dust in my trunk that i gotta install also. oh yea and im auto.

from 4000 to 4500 is when the car goes nuts. Break traction like woah at that point. From there to redline its a beast

Ubber Short Intake (no midpipe... TB>Coupler>MAF>Cone)
PF TB (irelevant to you, PF TB size=stock 3.5 size)
SSIM
MotoStorm UDP
Jime's T-Stat Mod
Long-Runner Headers with custom equal-length ypipe
2.5" Straight pipe (I had a cutout in its place for this dyno though)
2.5" WSP B-pipe
DynoMax Muffler
SAFC-1 Tuned

My intake is set up the same way and I have a cel. What did you put on the pcv valve. a breather filter?I put a breather filter on the end of the black hose that comes off the valve cover and went to the black silencer.

Rear VC has .... PVC valve> catch can> IM

Front VC is just open to atmosphere. No oil flying out of there for some reason but Im not complaining

No cam available sorry. But its simple man, the front one is just open to atmosphere (no hose). The rear one I have a hose running from the PCV valve into a catchcan that I have being held up to the AC line infront of the timing cover with zip ties, then from there a hose goes to the back of the IM for vaccum. Thats it.

Your not worried about nething getting in there without a hose? It doesnt seem right for nothing to be there. I'm getting a code for evap canister(major leak) with just a breather filter on the front. Im gonna put the black silencer back on and reset the ecu n see if a code pops back up again.

Any other pros or cons for the ssim removel?

Yea it would be a very wise idea to put a lil ricer filter on the VC, I just havent gotten around to it.

Wish I could help you with the EVAP stuff, but I have a 95 so my car isnt as "sensitive" to the EVAP stuff... hell I dont even HAVE a canister (took it off to make room during the swap and never put it back on, lol) and I dont have any CEL for EVAP

And no cons other than dip in midrange. Gets annoying when driving around and you're doing partial throttle acceleration, you feel the great pull under 3k, then 3k its "not as great", then back to great after 4k. Its annoying to me, but really it all depends on how you drive your car. For the 1/4 racing i do, I dont regret it one bit.

Aight thanks. I drive like a grandms most of the time. gas is expensive but I'm not afraid to get on it. My auto from a dig spins up 1st and mid 2nd then shifts 3rd. idk y. lol Now to just find a spare intake mani and go to work.
