Passed E-test with the 4.5 Gen

My last E-Test I just swapped VIN's and took my wife's 95 in for the E-Test. Well we scrapped her 95 when I bought the G35 so I no longer had a surrogate to use. I knew that I could have the 4.5 classified as a "hot rod" because the engine swap (3.5) was not an option for a 95 Max. After 3 trips to a testing facility they finally agreed that it fit the parameters of a "hot rod" and therefore tested to 1980 standards.

I have absolutely no emissions equipment but the cat that I put on yesterday for the test. I couldn't even pass the gas cap test with the fuel cell. However they ran the test and I passed so I now have another 2 years before the next one. I will probably retire it then and I'm thinking of getting a G coupe or a Z and doing it up for the track. It won't be a new one for sure probably an 03/04 model. I will be able to use the UTEC, plenum spacer, MREV2 slicks etc so it won't be a huge expense to set it up.

In the interim the Max is doing great, I won the first race of the year, bombed out on the second and placed 2nd in the 3rd so its shaping up to be a good season. I have 28 events on my calendar so a busy year and hopefully some more cash to help pay for expenses.

I now have a leather interior and fake wood dash from the old 95 GLE, I stripped it of anything that was useful before scrapping it.

The Suprastick and my drive by wire launch control make for a formidable bracket car and I plan on being in the finals every weekend. I love drivin this car now, I've even started using it as my DD again.

PS I am going to try and lower my ET again, with the new trans and launch it comes out of the hole quicker and I am going to install the V-Manage next week which should improve the bottom end even more.

Yeah mass is almost as bad as cali, congrats you lucky sob. I've been working on a waiver for awhile now, and it's one of the main reason I originally pulled my 3.5 and haven't done much to the new one yet. I've honestly contemplated scratching the I35 project and puting the 3.5 into my '95 for emmisions reasons, If I get one more ticket I'm done for 6-months, as it stands if I don't beat one now I'm done for 30-days w/fines up the wazooo, unfortunatly inspection stickers are a moving violation in my state, even for emmissions

Congrats Jim.

I took mine to a small "Mom and Pop" shop down the road that does e-testing. I just had to bring a copy of my engine receipt that they could keep on file in case they get audited.

In my part of NC, all OBDI is not effected by emissions either.

Ahh, the joys of owning a '95 and knowing someone that does emissions testing I don't know the meaning of "didn't pass"

Being a 95 would not matter up here in Ontario. They do not use OBD code readers.

Anything 88 and newer goes on the rollers and has the tailpipe emissions analyzed.

Yep I got the same answer from the shop I go to here as well, he said just come back with a receipt for the 3.5 that they can keep on file and I'm good to go as a hot rod.

Not to be a downer but how are you after everything that happened? you back to 100% yet or are you still going through a bit of recovery?

funk that, get a blown-up rev-up wholesale, and than on top of that try to get NNA to give you the $4k to write off the warranty.

Kidding, HR > that.

I still have a hand that has almost no feeling and is very stiff to move, it works and I can work on the car but unable to pick up small things etc. My left leg is still slow to respond I can almost walk without a limp, it coming. My right side has no feeling from my foot to mid chest level but it doesn't prevent me from doing what I want, I'm just afraid I will hurt it or burn myself and not know until its too late.

Other than that I am 100% and I feel like I am truly blessed to be where I am considering all the Dr's think I am very fortunate to be alive and call me the miracle man.

I think that I will make a 95% recovery in time and I am happy with that. My relatives can't believe I am back at the track racing they thought my racing days were over, but its what I love best and I think that after a 1st and 2nd place so far this year I still have it.

Unless I'm being dumb, or it has been swapped, no G35C's ever came w/ an HR, only Z's and G35 sedans.

to Jime, as always.
