Install a tranny and now no start

Well I recently broke my 5-speed tranny and bought another one and installed it yesterday. Now the problem is the car cranks but no start, I am getting fuel but no spark

so far I have added another ground from the tranny to the engine, swap cps and cam sensors, checked the cps harness for 12v, 5v and ground, ohm'd out the cps sensor. I pulled my codes with a actron scanner and only had a code for evap.

I am stuck cause I drove the car into my driveway and everything worked fine but now the car does not start for some reason. The only other thing I can think of is to drop the tranny sand the mating surface and check the timing ring teeth for damage

I really do not want to drop this tranny again any idea's of what else it could be

Did you make sure you had a clean mating surface between Engine and Trans.?

no all I did is clean it with brake cleaner. thats why I was hoping the extra ground would help but no dice

I am going to check my relays and swap out the ecu next and pull one of the plugs and have someone crank the car while I check for spark

Hey Thomas, from our phone convo earlier and you being like "yeah, thats exactly what mine does" when I mentioned the crank crank crank pause crank crank thing.... well like I said, run an assload of ground wires. But here's the link to that thread, credit due to Crazy97, if it wasn't for him my I30 would still be blowing up mufflers probably, well actually I geuss that would be better than motors.

well I switched out the ecu and added another tranny ground from one of the 17mm bolts to the body. well the car did not start so I am going to move the 17mm ground to the 14mm starter bolt and see what happens

well I charged my battery and guess what crank but no start, moved the ground to the start bolt and it seemed to pull down the battery and it would just click like the battery was dead

anyone with a auto to 5-speed car know if there a wire that could cause the car to crank and not start. I am hoping my I damaged a wire or something

if not I'll start draining the tranny fluid and preping the car to pull the tranny and clean the mating surface, recheck the wires and check the timing ring for damage

ok so I got some new idea's and I am going to test the coilpacks and test the harness for a signal during startup and reground the harness and recheck the plugs

and get out the flash light mirror and look at the timing ring instead of just feeling it

you might just have to bite the bullet and pulley the tranny.

i might just have to do the same to fix a small leak at my axle. i hate doing it but i have no choice.

Does the check engine light come on when the key is in a ON position? if not double check where your injectors are Grounded.

but today I soldered all the but contacters some the 5-swap although they were good

charged my battery, removed the ground from the starter, pulled the front 3 plugs cleaned them, tested the coil plugs to see if the #1 pin was getting 12v, 2# had ground and 3# is getting a trigger.

well pin 1 and 2 are good waiting for my girlfriend to come outside to start the car while I check for a trigger signal

but I did test resistantce between the tranny and body, engine and battery and it was all the same

so when she finally gets down here I'll check for a trigger signal, pull a plug ground it and check for spark

ok so I tested the coil harness and I am getting 12v, ground and signal

pulled one of the plugs put it in the coil and grounded while she cranked the car and got spark so I swaped out the condenser .. then grounded the injector ground to the battery and put the pedal to the metal and the car briefly started

while off to get some gas, starter fluid, test the injectors, harness and play with the ground some more

Going through my problems a few weeks back I tend to notice when a car does not turn over it gets harder and harder for the engine to turn over. What I mean is give it some gas. Remember that always cranking drains the battery amps. You might need to give it a boost.

Well the car started, today I soldered any wire that was connected with a butt connector, tested the coils and harness, cleaned the front 3 plugs, charged the battery, checked the injectors, replaced the ground wire I made which was 12gauge with a a 4gauge wire and ran it to the tranny and engine

and just the car did not start, checked and tested the condenser and gues what it did not spec out. went to the junkyard got another one and it started

at 1st it would not idle and would not start with stepping on the gas, guess the rear 3 plug had to get hot and cleam themselves off but for some reason I can not get my idle above 700 without it going crazy so I left it at 650 for now

great to hear you got it started. Always use a large gauge wire for grounding. 12 gauge won't cut it.
