vq35 with a mevi??

im planning on gettin a vq35 swapped into my maxima and was wondering if i should also install a MEVI or use the 3.5 IM...

i searched the forums and found only a couple threads but none relly answered my question
Stupid q.... mevi + 3.5?

this post says that the MEVI ports do not match up with a Maxima 3.5 heads but do match up on the Pathfinder 3.5 heads...

im also getting a JWT ecu and i know the JWT+MEVI pair creates impressive results...

would i be better off using the regular 3.5 heads and IM or should i go with my approach and use Pathfinder heads + MEVI + JWT ecu??

you can use a 00vi if you use pathfinder heads

less your going for the sleeper look and want to make the car look like it still has a 3.0 I would just use the 3.5 heads and intake

and if that's the case I would luv to see what kind of #'s you would get out of a 3.5 shortblock and cleaned up dek heads, intake and aftermarket cams

There's a couple of guys in florida using the 3.5 with de-k heads and intake manifold. One has 3.5 cams and is spraying, the other has 3.0 cams and is N/A. Both are pretty quick. Dynos should be coming in may if plans work out.

3.5 with 3.0 heads isn't a new concept guys. In fact, it's been close to 4-5 years since the first 3.5/3.0 hybrid first ran.

Just curious, what is the advantage to using the 3.0 heads and the 00vi? Isn't it more beneficial to just swap the timing equipment over and use the 3.5 heads and intake?

Or better yet, do a complete swap and keep the timing equipment/VCT?

I imagine the amount of work involved with using 3.0 heads vs 3.5 heads with the timing stuff swapped should be about the same.

Is there something I am missing here as to why you should build a 3.5/3.0 hybrid? Is the 00vi better than the 02/03 manifold or something?

we all know the idea is not new but but there is not alot of track and dyno #'s

it seems like when people go thur with the hybrid swap the threads start out good tons of info then seem to just die.

example like the thread when the guy took a 3.5 manifold and removed the elbow made a plate and mounted the tb directly

Freds motor is still running by the way. Its being sprayed on a weekly basis and doing fine.
