3.5 oil cooler on 3.0?

k i got a quick question, IIRC the 3.5 oil cooler cant just bolt on to a 3.0, im working on a 3.0 right now as a temporary motor while i figure out what i want to do as far as a permanent motor is concerned.

Here is the issue my old 3.0 thermostat i have no idea where it is(and if i found it, its pretty fcuked from the blown HG on my other 3.0), i really dont feel like buying another one(im being super cheap ) so if there is just a simple bit of drilling i have to do on the back of the 3.0 head to get the oil cooler to work i will do it. Also i want to use that 3.5 Oil pan i had since i modified my CKPS to work with it.

If its complicated then i will just go buy the damn thermostat and CKPS

Why not just ditch the cooler, its just a sandwhich plate, you can unscrew it off.

Why do you have to buy a new coolant tstat? Simply buy a rubber plug for the cooler outlet. Iv had a Z tstat since day one of my swap with that outlet plugged.

What benefit were you looking for? I cant think of any, other than warming up your oil on cold start. Once car is warm all it does is heat up your oil to near coolant temps. no good.

well im going to be honest, i beat the **** out of my cars so once the oil warms up anyway it will be more of a benefit then a negative.

i think i should buy an an oil cooler i think i will do that with the next build.

Thats the problem though, your not cooling anything down. your actually heating up the oil. Coolant is usually in the 195-215 range. If your beating on the car, your coolant is heating up the oil to those same temps, plus however hot the oil actually gets, at the end, its guaranteed to be passed 215deg. Thats why in my opinion that crap is not even a cooler, its just there for cold start, nothing more.

Yeah a real cooler is always a good idea.
