5.5 gen timing curve

What is the best curve for ignition timing for the 5.5 gen? What should it be at low and high?

Here's one of mine, not sure if this is 'best'. I believe Jime and Aaron have both stated what they think is best with result to prove it.

I would research what they've posted in the past.

I think I also have an earlier log where I didn't have my SAFCII connected.

I'm kind of curious how this chart is laid out. I thought faster the piston move up and down more advance you need to do. More fuel is being added. Shouldn't the mid range 3750rpm to 5750rpm range atleast to the IGN(BTDC). You can say I'm newbie at messing with timing.

I never said my timing curve was ideal, just posting what it looks like and actually looks like.

So by adding some advancing some timing advance in your mid range you could gain some more power... May be you can squeez some out of your engine you be in 250HP range may be.

I don't have any means to do so, nor log it. Since IIRC, EMU is post ECU, so you could take logs from the Cipher, add +2-3º via EMU, and then add those values to the Cipher curve. .

I still need to dyno my 3" exhaust, new intake and spacers. Then I may venture into the 'advanced' piggybacks.

Well EU is just play around toy for me right now. I might move to something more advance later on.

ignition timing is generally the inverse of volumetric efficiency. where VE is highest, timing will be lowest, etc.

The next step up is a UTEC. Yeah, it's better than an E-Manage, but you probably won't gain any power from switching to a Utec from an E-Manage Ultimate.

EMU can display your ignition timing. It needs the crank POS to be connected though. It can still advance/retard timing without the sensor connected, but you just won't know what your timing is.
