Transgo Shift kit with Maxxtuning VB and opinions

Posted in 5th gen section but got no feedback, so trying here since most who have done it lurk here mainly.

Ok so last summer my car had a very slight slipping from 2-3. So not to make matters worse, I've parked the car up and have been toying with the idea of a 5-speed swap. However the swap is becoming very costly and I don't want to dump that much into a swap (kitchen reno's this year). So after doing some research, I've come across the TransGo HD2 kits helping the minor slippage and also the plus factor of making better shifts (I can handle the harshness since I'm used to the Maxxtuning VB). This is something that is well in my budget (and perhaps left over for some more mods). Only concern is I already have a Maxxtuning modified VB.

My question is, will the Transgo Kit mate well with a modded Maxxtuning VB or should I look for a unmodified VB? Also, is this the right part# for a 2000 Maxima with an Auto LSD tranny? RE4F04B-HD2.

Please no comment "just do the 5-speed swap" as I won't be doing it. Rather do some house mods instead.

Thanks,

Yes that's the right part#, and I have one I'll let go for $90, free shipping :0 PP is Maximaparts@hotmail.com

As for the Maxtuning VB, I would be leary of installing it in that, not knowing what they do to them. IE you could be enlarging a passageway to up a pressure when they did it already a different way. Others might chime in & tell me I'm crazy though, but I'd try to find another VB, I'd give you one for free with the shift-kit, but it's been sitting in the snow, rofl.

Oh and my .02c........... Rip the trans apart & inspect the clutches etc while installing the shift kit, trust me, if you can handle removing the trans or installing a shift kit you can handle taking the trans apart & back together, trust me, they're easier than rebuilding a manual, just a little more time consuming & you need a lot of bench surface, just keep everything in a certain order so you know it is installed same order/direction.

I agree, it's almost like a double whammy, not in that sense, but they do essentially the same thing almost, from what we know.

And it seems almost counterproductive to do what you're thinking of doing, and possibly a band aid on a worse problem.

On an easier note, if you have access to a stock VB, I would toss that in and see if it changes things, and maybe, just maybe you could get away with installing the HD-2 kit in there, and hopefully all will be solved.
